Excellent tying together of Lipscomb's own first article with the KC Star follow-up and now this follow-up.
Funny, those fading memories of the men who initially recalled Kerry's presence at the Kansas City meeting.
BTW, this August event in East Hampton is very interesting.

Would it be too much to ask of the media to hold Kerry to the same standard on this story as they held Bush to on the Alabama AWOL story? Yes.
As frustrating as that is.

FWIW, I do know Mr Musgrave personally, and have for many years(ye gads! almost 30yrs...!) He is frightfully honest, AFAIK, and has a good memory. If he says he saw John Kerry at the KC VVAW meeting, I believe him. When you call him, please ask him if he attended a meeting that took place in St. Louis that summer.
When the Kansas City reporter spoke with Musgrave, Musgrave told him he recalled Kerry at the Kansas City meeting. The KC Star reporter then contacted a man named Hurley with the Kerry campaign (it's mentioned in this Lipscomb article, too) for comment, and Hurley told the reporter that Musgrave must be confused and remembering hearing Kerry speak in St. Louis because Kerry, said Hurley, was absolutely not in Kansas City.
As Lipscomb points out, another Kerry staffer named Wade had earlier said Kerry wasn't in St. Louis either.
So, ask Musgrave if he was at St.Louis, please.

Musgrave wasn't in St Louis... KC was his FIRST meeting he said.

I think I would remember if I was at a meeting where people were talking about murdering others.

Bump for the continuing saga of: Kerry was, then he wasn't, then he was again.

I thought the article said it was Musgrave's first meeting as an official, so the meaning was a bit murky.
Anyway, if it were pinned down that he was not at St. Louis, as Kerry's guy said he must have been, then that would go a long way to placing Kerry definitively in Kansas City, though supporters would always say not proof enough.
