BERLIN (Reuters) - A German trying to steal clothes donated to charity was caught by police after he fell into the man-sized collection bin and got trapped.

"Arriving at the container, the officers saw two arms. The left hand held a cigarette and a voice demanded, 'Give me a light!'," police said in a statement.

A passerby had alerted them after hearing strange noises coming from inside the metal bin late at night in the western city of Bochum.

Police prevented the trapped 43-year-old from smoking, called the fire brigade to free him and let him go after charging him with attempted robbery.

OK, I don't wanna spoil the party,,,

BUT....

Clothes donated to charity were not intended to become property of corporate entitlement. This same thing happened at the Goodwill deposit bin in Orlando back in the late 80's or early 90's. The bum was arrested and goodwill industries was exposed for the fraud it was and is.

SO what if the bum was trying to get a free pair of shoes from a charity collection bin before it was sorted out, price-tagged and/or taken home by the inhouse workers who get first shot.

The bin should be open. What part of society is harmed when the homeless or deranged pic from a pile of donated clothes?
Society -NO (or no more than removing yourself from society already has), but charitable corporate affairs - YES, Big Time!
