Well when you break "neocon" down. Neo means new. "Con" is short for conservative. Therefore, it means new conservative. Neocon is a slang word used by the angry leftist to describe a post 911 conservative. Basically it is a word used by liberals, socialist, communist, and elitist to describe someone that is 21st century "Hawk".

LOL 'Neoconservative' is the name for a school of thought that believes, similar to a Marxist, that the United States is an ideological nation. Neoconservatives have no fear of 'big government' and have no particular affection for the republic envisioned by the forefathers.
The so-called Godfather of Neoconservatism, Irving Kristol said as much in his piece last August, The Neoconservative Persuasion. Kristol makes it clear that there is nothing consevative about neoconservatives, a word he coined simply to mean non-Left.
