So who should be the famous people to speak out for us? Only the politicians? God help us all if that's the case. In case you missed it, Hannity interviewed Gibson. This wasn't Gibson searching for somewhere to commiserate but rather a standard interview. Of course if you want Gibson to be quiet perhaps you should ask Hannity to quit asking questions he may not like the answer to.

Oh good now we'll be able to quell famous citizens that speak out in interviews and limit the questions to what we 'think' they should be talking about. Who said free speech was dead?

Not really directed at you, but I sometimes wish they wouldn't speak out, or perhaps it would be better to say nobody should really care what performers say or think (unless it's about their particular profession) or give them a platform. It's great that there are various types of performers out there who might be Conservative, but way too many people hang on their words, when the truth is, it's just their opinion, and they don't know any more than you or I.

It's like I don't go up to a mechanic and ask his opinion on politics and elections, so perhaps some shouldn't be hanging on every word that an actor has to say about politics, because they are going to find themselves disappointed at some point.

I'm not trashing Mel either, he's done a lot of great things and movies, and any statements he may or may not have made about WMD (which I don't even think WMD was the reason for the war, but that's for another thread) don't change my opinion of him.
