I try. The Bible says to be kind.

Nearing graduation, I asked my brilliant Mormon dissertation chairman what life advice he'd offer me. He simply said--to be kind.

I fail too often.

And, sometimes my forcefulness in discourse doesn't come across at all kind though I try to moderate tone and word choice with kindness.

I do tend to make exceptions for those seemingly so intent on harshness and narrow, rigid, assaultive diatribes without a shred of humility or openness. Having been there, I think the only loving thing for such is a 2 X 4 upside the head in a usually too vain attempt at waking them up or knocking the scales from their eyes.
