[history]
The more one follows the antics of the government, the more one has to question why so many politicians and voters believe the government is the answer to most every problem.
State Sens. Jim Battin, R-La Quinta, and Jeff Denham, R-Salinas, recently proposed legislation that would create a database by which the state government can track its properties, according to a Register article last week. The goal is to sell some of the state government's vast land holdings - including vacant land and housing in Hawaii - to raise $1 billion to chip away at the $17 billion budget deficit.

We're astounded, but not particularly surprised, that state officials have no idea what the "public" owns. I sold California a bridge in Brooklyn a while back. Still awaiting payment.

I can't figure out any valid reason for a state to purchase property in another state (or foreign country).
Seems there oughta be some kind of Constitutional prohibition against that kind of bureaucratic idiocy.

The state owns property in Hawaii? More than just Hawaii. Other properties in the south Pacific as well.
Guess which branch of government?
If you guessed that the University of California has little hideouts across the south Pacifc, including a home in Tahiti you'd be correct.

!!! They have gun shows at the Cow Palace! I'm surprised that the State of California allows such a thing on their property. However, the county of San Francisco is trying to get that stopped.

However, the county of San Francisco is trying to get that stopped. They did it in Pomona, what was the largest gun show in SoCal was kicked out of the L.A. County Fairgrounds.
