the vote in Spain absolutely guarantees that there will be a major attack, here, in the States, prior to the November electionEven if the Spanish socialists weren't complicit in the bombings (and I don't believe they were, this time), still, it sure worked out well for them, didn't it?
Socialists the world over must be thinking that a little terrorism before an election might not be a bad thing -- for them.
Which reminds me of that deed perpetrated by another (national) socialist: The Reichstag fire.

Not only will Islamic fundamentalists run wild all over Europe killing and creating mayhem, they will activate groups here, and their attacks will be specifically carried out to alter the outcome of the election. They want George W. Bush out of office. He is their biggest threat. Perhaps, he is their only threat.Bump for Barbara.

They have no respect for weakness. Their master-plan is the total and complete destruction of the Western world and its way of life. It is mind-boggling that there are people who still cannot see this.
Acquiescence is only a short term solution, but to a socialist with little or no foresight, it appears to be a victory.

I never want to hear what Spain thinks of my country. These cowards think that terrorism will not affect them so long as they are "good". I sometimes wonder why we choose to pull their asses out of the fire at times of peril.

Sadly, I believe you are absolutely correct! However, these people will never even understand their shame.

There must be many in Spain who are not cowards. Sadly, they were overwhelmed at the polls by a tide of emotion and irrationality -- precisely those attributes upon which Democrats (aka socialists) prey.

Socialists the world over must be thinking that a little terrorism before an election might not be a bad thing -- for them. And terrorists already know how well the socialist/leftist appeasement mentality works in their favor. Yes, we will see more attacks, and probably here in the US, and yes, I will blame the spineless people of Spain.

One point worth keeping in mind is the fact Spain's decision to support us in Iraq was
not popular with the citizenry, and that the bombings may have served as "the straw that broke the camel's back".
That said, I think the Socialist Workers' Party got quite a bonus out of these murders: They got to overthrow a reasonably popular (on most other issues)government, at the cost of "only" 1700 casualties: relatively "bloodless" by Marxist standards !
I think reports of an Iraqi intelligence agent having set up the bombings are right on the mark. The use of remote detonation-as opposed to putting a dozen suicide bombers on the trains-is very Iraqi.
For what it's worth, this morning's planting of a timer-detonated bomb at the US Consulate in Karachi, Pakistan, sounds like "more of the same". (The bomb was found and de-fused:one of the reasons al-Qaeda and the other Muslim Brotherhood outfits prefer suicide operatives.)

Please remember that very nearly half of those who voted in the Spanish election voted for Aznar, our ally. Blackening the reputation of all Spaniards because of how half of them voted isn't fair. I'm sure that there are many, many Spaniards who realize that Spain has capitulated to terrorists.

Spain is part of the "old" Europe.

The President is not the there only threat. As long as there are millions of people like us who would rather die than submit to terror, there will always be living breathing threats to terrorists.

There is a difference between political rhetoric and actual governing.
I suspect the new Spanish prime minister will find a loophole and keep Spanish troops in Iraq.
Since he says that a new UN resolution will be his fig leaf, he'll probably get it. After June 30, the new Iraqi government will probably request foreign troops to remain in Iraq, and a new UN resolution agreeing to the Iraqi government request will pass unanimously.
The Spanish voters are still in shock, denial, and anger, the initial stages of the grieving process, and they might have voted against the wrong party. After some time, I hope cooler heads will prevail.

This is the biggest threat now. With the Dems criticizing the war in Iraq, and Bush's handling of it, what a perfect lesson to be taken from the Spanish elections.

Americans ain't Spanyards. Our reaction too 9-11 was sorrow and anger not sorrow and fear.
An attack on America prior to the elections will INSURE a Bush victory.
However, Europeans in general were lukewarm on this, like the Spanyards. Expect similar attacks with identical results in Italy and Britain.
I don't believe there are enough ragheads in Poland or Ukraine to carry out successful attacks there.
A successful attack of this nature is directly proportional to the percentage of Muslims in a Country and the magnitude of popular opposition to assisting the U.S.
I think Al Quaida is intelligent enough to understand this.
So... Italy and Britain, BEWARE!
