You are right about the individuals sometimes coming from wealthy families (especially like Osama).
I meant that they thrive on their perception of reality within the Arab world, the unsolved problem of the middle-east with all its violence, the poverty in many Arab countries, the double-standards of their Government-leaders (often being filthy rich and showing a "Godless" luxury live in sin)
They watch and read Arab news and some of them will be lead by all these frustrations to terrorism, like we had in the 70s some leftists students going into terrorism because of a certain perception of reality. (Vietnam, etc.) And some of them also came from wealthy families.
As I said: You can't change a terrorist, but you need to withdraw the reasoning- and propaganda-basis for them, so there won't be as many future terrorists attracted to this evil cause.

Oh you mean by setting up democracy in such places as Iraq, which by the way your socialist German government was against, afterall saddam was just a harmless old man, correct.
Saddam was the victim of American agression according to you, correct?

Prison for terrorists? Isn't that special. Why do you Germans always want to exterminate the weak innocent
and imprison, then free, the terrorists, eh?
BZZZZZT. WRONG.
You also think the US was "wrong" about Saddam, who was your own "good guy:, eh?
BZZZZZT. WRONG.
========= Chemical Warhead found in Kirkuk =============
Saddam's chemical warhead found at an Iraqi air base, marked with a green band,
the symbol for chemical weaponry. Trace amounts of a nerve agent were found
at two spots along the ~meter-long warhead. These amounts are consistent with
leakage from the chemically armed weapon. A 13-foot missile was found next to it.

=========== Documents linking Atta, Saddam, Nidal, bin Ladin ===========
Saddam's handwritten letter dated Feb. 19, 1998 linking bin Laden and Saddam Hussein
discussing arrival of a secret envoy sent by bin Laden to Iraq.
The signature beneath the letter is a codename, "MDA" - the Mukhabarat.

I get a whiff of appeasement.I'm not about to convert to Islam or wish my country to live under sharia.Withdraw the reasoning? It's kill the Jews,Christians, the infidels and establish Islam world wide. How do you withdraw that reasoning?
We are trying to help Iraq establish a just government instead of having a murderous dictator. The majority want us to stay and help them attain that while they are taking the steps toward self government.
Schools are being refurbished and opened, electricity is now above prewar levels. The infrastructure was a mess.Saddam only built palaces and mosques.
Oil production is back to normal. Our brave young men and women have given their lives to help bring Iraq freedom.Saddam was a weapon of mass destruction.

You can't change a terrorist, but you need to withdraw the reasoning- and propaganda-basis for them, so there won't be as many future terrorists attracted to this evil cause. Or you can withdraw their voice from the debate by terminating them with extreme prejudice.
I guess what bothers me about all of this is that Europe (as a whole, not necessarily specific individuals) bad mouths the United States until the advent of one occurence:
When Europe, because they spend almost nothing on their collective military establishments, preferring to take their collective tax takes and spend it on "fixing" (enabling, really) the various social ills, has a crisis that will only lend itself to the violent solution of war they call upon America to bail them out.
America will bail Europe out of this mess, in spite of itself. That is what the leadership of the United States appears headed to do. The leadership of America is doing this, obviously, without consulting me. I would have told them to let Europe fend for itself.
But that is rhetoric that is not very productive. Like it or not, this is World War III. It is being fought around the globe, and there are only two outcomes: (1) the destruction of society as we know it; or (2) the destruction of those who wish to destroy society.
I vote for number two.
Since the terrorists will not negotiate, kill them all.
Then we won't have to worry about it.
