Spain's elections have just turned the countries leadership socialistic, liberal. Due to the train bombings of last week, the voters/citizens of Spain have decided that the Socialists Party should get the nod once again.

This is a huge upset for freedom, capitalism and for the United States in this war versus terrorism. Now, the terrorists know they can 'stimulate' Europe with terror attacks before elections and change the outcomes, as well as the support for those who are really fighting this "terrorism".

Remember, "terrorism" is a 'embracing a philosophy where the use of terror (i.e.) targeting civilians and not soldiers, is an acceptable and legitimate means of advancing a political cause.'

This is the war on terrorism. It is not a singular battle between Bush and OBL, Bush and Saddam or Bush and the PLO...it means defeating terrorism wherever it my raise its ugly, evil serpent's head!

Today we have attacks in Greece, Spain and in Israel - not to forget the fire outside of the Kremlin in Russia after President Putin wins another election...there were threats from the Chechnya Rebels that they would plant land mines if Putin won again. We'll wait on this fire, but the others should be enough to consider today!

All-in-all, today in Spain was a HUGE victory for 'terrorism' and a loss for the people of Europe! What it means for the United States, we'll have to see in the following days. You would hope that it means a tougher line of questioning for John Kerry and a wider embrace for the leadership and activities of President Bush over the past year...but you never know in today's emotionally charged citizens and voters.

What I can point out today is the outcome in Spain: (1) Total appeasement toward terrorism and an endorsement of such as a means to advance a political cause, (2) The blame game works for liberals and socialists worldwide. The Socialists Party immediately 'blamed' Spain's leadership for the attacks last week, stating their relations with America and support of the war against terrorism, (3) Run the countries foreign affairs through the United Nations who are already sympathetic to the means and goals of terrorism and terrorists (Consider the "Food for Oil" initiative created with Saddam and Iraq in 1996), (4) Start negotiations with terrorism and terrorists, giving them a creditable position on the world stage for good.

As we ponder these the new direction of Spain with the Socialists Party victory consider my four points in reference to the Democrat candidate John Kerry - all of them have been represented by Kerry during his campaign in one way, shape or form. What we are watching in Spain could be the result in the US if we are not engaged in the differences. A new liberal, socialist party leader could take the helm and lead America into the arms of the UN and the 'deal making rooms' with terrorism. Remember, John Kerry has said that there are world leaders who support his campaign and him personally for the President's Office in November...maybe we now know who those 'endorsing' world leaders are!

If true, very sad.

It sends the message that terror can win over civilization. A bad message to send now.

Spain just taught the terrorists a lession:

WITH TERROR YOU CAN MANIPULATE AN ELECTION!

Way to go Spain... MORONS

When I saw all these millions of IDIOTS demonstrating in Madrid, I thought: Instead of bringing the country to a HALT, which is EXACTLY WHAT THE TERRORIST WANT, do something useful and level a few mosques!

As with all leftists, blame everyone but the people doing the killing. I don't think I saw one person on DU condemning the terrorists, they were busy blaming the government of Spain - much like they blamed the US govt for the attacks on the US.

In their view, appease those who want to destroy you is the answer. I would like to see them really stand up against the people who want to murder their children and famlies - but they would rather submit to them and praise them as freedom fighters.

The left is a disease.

Spaniards are pretty brave when it comes to slaughtering bulls, but utter pussies when it comes to defending themselves against terrorist aggression. This is a huge victory for Al Qaeda, and they're just desperately holding on until November, praying for a Kerry win.

Spanish voters just gave Al Qaida the go ahead to kill more. They said in essence that it's ok to kill our people. I expect Al Qaida to hit the US now because of thier success in Spain. The Spanish have caved.

The lesson to terrorists here is: launch an attack just before an election. It might get you a government more likely to cave in to you in the future.

We gave the terrorists a victory when we put Clinton in the White House. And we kept him in there appeasing terrorists for eight years

I won't be too hard on the Spanish until they keep their new cowardly Prime Minister longer than eight years.

Elections in Italy in June....

EUOBSERVER / EP-elections 2004 - The political rivalry between Italy’s Premier Silvio Berlusconi and his arch rival Commission President Romano Prodi has been the top attraction in the past few months in the run up to the European Parliamentary elections.

Italians will vote on the 12-13 of June, coinciding with administrative elections, so turnout for the European elections should be good as voting is compulsory.

In 1999, 70.8% turned out while 74.8% voted in 1994.

Centre-left lists Mr Prodi has been the driving force behind the single list for centre-left parties, which was set up for these elections. This move has led to criticism from Italy’s governing coalition, particularly Mr Berlusconi himself, who last month called for Mr Prodi to resign from his post as Commission President.

Rumours have been circulating that Mr Prodi would himself stand for the European parliament elections, but he has continuously insisted that he intends to stay on in his post as Commission President until the end of the term in October.

The centre-left list "Uniti nell’Ulivo, per l’Europa" will be made up of only four Italian parties, which are currently affiliated to different groups in the European parliament – the Democrats of the Left (PSE), the Margherita (EPP and Liberals), the Italian Social Democrats (PSE and ELDR) and the European Republican Movement (ELDR). However, this list is not thought to be enough to beat the governing coalition at the next elections.

Discussions are ongoing on the possibility that these parties would join the same group in the European parliament after elections, but the Democrats of the Left are expected to remain part of the European Socialist group.

Former Italian judge Antonio Di Pietro, who helped initiate the 'Clean hands' corruption inquiry in 1992, intends to run again in the June elections. Although discussions have been held with the parties in the so-called Prodi list, Mr Di Pietro has formed his own centre-left list with Achille Occhetto, former leader of the social democratic Party of the Democratic Left (PDS). Together with the "Uniti nell'Ulivo" list, they hope to present themselves as an alternative to Mr Berlusconi's coalition.

No common list for House of Freedoms coalition Silvio Berlusconi, whose centre-right coalition did not agree to set up a single list for the European Parliament elections, announced his decision to run himself for the elections, although he will not take a seat in the European Parliament if elected.

His move is seen as a bid to increase the votes for his party Forza Italia as Italy faces local administrative elections in June.

However, things do not appear so bright for Italy’s Premier. A poll published in the Italian daily newspaper Corriere della Sera on 9 March showed that the majority of respondents, 50.5 percent would vote for the country’s centre left opposition while 45 percent said they would vote for the centre-right bloc if general elections were held now.

Incompatibility Only one Italian woman has made it into the EPP, Amalia Sartori. The other 33 MEPs representing Italy are all men.

Italy's ex-agriculture minister Alfonso Pecoraro Scania, is expected to run on the list of the Greens, which currently have only two MEPs elected in the European parliament.

Various prominent MEPs from the Emma Bonino List, are expected to run again in June's elections. In this list, currently made up of seven MEPs, are former European Commissioner Emma Bonino, Olivier Dupuis who has undergone hungerstrikes in order to bring awareness to the situation in Chechnya, and Marco Cappato, who is popular for his report on privacy in electronic communication and is a campaigner in favour of laxing rules against drug use.

Due to enlargement, Italy will elect 78 MEPs in June, instead of the present 87.

Number of MEPs to be elected: 78 Election day: 12-13 June 2004 Turnout in EP-elections 1999: 70.8% Turnout in latest national election 13 may 2001: 81.3 % (percentage constituencies and proportional)

Distribution of current MEPs in the European Parliament:
34 PPE-ED Forza Italia
(22) - Unione democratico cristiana
(5) - Partito popolare italiano
(4) - Südtiroler Volkspartei (Partito popolare sudtirolese)
(1) - Partito Pensionati
(1) - Rinnovamento italiano - Dini (1)
16 PSE Democratici di Sinistra (15) - Socialisti democratici italiani (1)
8 ELDR I Democratici (4) - Socialisti democratici italiani (1) - Movimento Repubblicani Europei (1) - Italia dei Valori - Lista Di Pietro (2)
6 GUE/NGL Partito della rifondazione comunista (4) - Partito dei Comunisti Italiani (2) 2 Verts/ALE Federazione dei Verdi
10 UEN Alleanza nazionale (9) - Patto Segni (1) - EDD 11 NI Lista Emma Bonino (7) - Lega Nord per l'indipendenza della Padania (3) - Pietro-Paolo Mennea (1)
87 total (to be reduced to 78 MEPs due to enlargement of the European Union) Other Italian lists/parties: Nuovo Partito Socialista Italiano (conservative), Democrazia Europea (European Democracy), Movimento Sociale Fiamma Tricolore (fascist), Union Valdôtaine (regionalist)

I work with a few muslims. You should have seen them today. Bloated with arrogance. Telling other workers from other countries that their country was next. That America is going to get what they deserve.

And this is what they're saying in this country. If these folks are not evil, I'm not sure what is.

This is precisely why we cannot treat terrorists within the legal system. When terrorists are caught, they need to be executed as soon as a connection is made with the deed and in many cases, the families of the terrorists should go with them. Terrorists are ruthless and respect only the same reciprocally. The world needs to know that the gloves are off and we will piss on the UN and its "thumbs up the butt" tactics. We will do as we please when our countrymen and allies are hurt.
