Bring It ON

...a relentless, hourly attack by all elements of the Republican Party and associates. A daily Kerry issue talking point. Coordinated ads, speeches and appearances. Either Karl Rove has the right stuff and will show it in the next six weeks, or the President is doomed. I know its ugly, but it must be recognized that the ground has shifted, the rules have changed, and that more of the same will result in Kerry as President next January. Time to take Kerry up on his challenge and really “bring it on” !!!

I totally agree... Bush's ads have been described by pollsters and focus groups as "unengaging" and "cluttered". He hasn't had a really hard-hitting ad yet. He was heading in the right direction with the Wrong on Defense ad. But it was too cluttered and soft.
Kerry wants to weaken the Patriot act and wait for UN approval before defending America. John Kerry... Soft on Terror, Weak on Defense. That is all you need, but you have to make it hard hitting... very negative and very direct at Kerry. It will drive him nuts and finally gain some traction. The Wrong on Taxes, Wrong on Defense ad is kind of soft... it seems like Bush finally landed a punch, but forgot to take off his puffy mittens. It doesn't leave you really mad at Kerry and feeling tha the is weak, which should be the focus of the ad.

It is high time that Republicans unite and ward off the communist in diguise, John F'n Kerry. The entire conservative establishment is needed to fend off the relentless media free advertising for Kerry. It may not be as bad as it looks right now, but everyone has to admit that it is looking too close for comfort.

might I suggest that the Bush team, and its ardent supporters (of which I count myself one) are increasingly in denial?

The same denial that said "Bush in a landslide" a day before the 2000 election. This is Bush's to lose, just like the 1992 election was Bush's to lose. Surely they learned the lesson of the elder Bush????? Hopefully?????

When we say that polls showing Bush at 47% and Kerry at 45% are GOOD NEWS we are really admitting we are in trouble! Is this going to be another "IT'S THE ECONOMY, STUPID" election? I certainly hope not!

My opinion is that you are over-wrought. Bush is who he is, and that is not a rabid attack dog. The voters will get a sense of both men and the issues, without vicious attack messages such as you are advocating. Your recipe is a loser for Bush in my opinion.

You are wrong brother. Are you really a conservative or just someone from DU trolling for a fight.

Bush could use better support from members of congress and from the RNC. He needs Karen Hughes back at the White House. But the President would be foolish to take your slash and burn approach. It smacks of desparation and of course would be spun as such by the press. Most Americans dont pay attention to the Presidential race until near the election. Right now we are almost eight months out.

This race is far from over. Kerry has yet to position himself and most voters know little about him. To vote for him, they first have to agree that Bush has to go, then they have to feel comfortable with Kerry personally and with his policies. Right now, they know little about Kerry. And Bush is about to rapidly outspend Kerry to inform the public about Kerry. Kerry has to take positions and as he does so he will lose support among some constituencies.

Take heart, recent polls show that even half of the Democrats still expect that Bush will win the election. Most Republicans also expect Bush will win. Generally this far out, people's beliefs about who will win are better indicators of who will win than asking them who they would vote for.

Aren't you a whiz..... Have you applied to be Rove's helper? Sounds like you have the plans laid out.... One week into the campaign and you want to go ballistic.... lol.

Set back and enjoy the ride. It's a long way till lever pulling day on Nov. 2..... Many tides both neap and rip to be incurred.

I had some worries about a month ago too.

But I'm supremely confident of a Bush win, a big one, today.

When Americans go to vote on November 2, only one issue will play bigtime.

The Madrid train massacre and subsequent vote shows the idiocy of appeasement.

Americans will reject Democrats and cling to Bush for another 4 years.

And in the middle east, and especially in Iraq, the plan of draining the swamp will bear fruit so our children and grandchildren will live in a safer world.

I think you're right. It's quite possible to overdo it of course, but if your idea was followed that wouldn't be the case. Now we have to pray that Kerry screws up, and that's a very low position to be in. Bush seems to think that stuff fades and when it does he's alright again. That may have been somewhat true prior to David Kay's disclosure, but not now.

Is this going to be another "IT'S THE ECONOMY, STUPID" election? I certainly hope not!

It is unless there is another terrorist attack in this country and close to the election.

Okay, go on the attack. But the real problem is that he has alienated his base by his big spending, big government policies. Democrats scare me but not much more than the Republicans.

"Is this going to be another "IT'S THE ECONOMY, STUPID" election?"
That's totally up to Bush. Contrary to popular wisdom there does not have to be anohter terror attack to get National Security back in focus. 9/11 is still fresh in our minds and there are still many terrorist states just BEGGIN for a regime change. Also, I feel that it would help if Bush would give addresses after these major terrorist attacks abroad.
Also, it will certainly not be an "economy stupid" election if we catch Bin Laden before November!

You got it. Like a good artilleryman, Bush is softening up the target before the assault. The "soft" ads are precisely meant to be that---just plant questions in peoples' minds some SEVEN MONTHS OUT.

Gee whiz, people, have you learned nothing from Howard Dean? Flash and noise do not equal votes. Take Kerry down, one peg at a time. It won't take much to make this a near-landslide (I think a Reagan-type landslide is out of the question, barring a terrorist attack).

I am continually amused how "conservatives" are so terrified by "News Media" polls while whining about how the "News Media" is so biased. I wonder why they never seem to take seriously the PROFESSIONAL political polls (Zogby, Battleground, Rassmussion etc) which show Bush ahead? Could it be that those who spend so much time screaming about how "bad" Bush's campaign is doing are actually Democrats in Freeper clothing? Disinformation and Physiological Warfare have as much a role in politics and they do in war. If this is not the case here, what purpose is served by this continual trashing of Bush? People it is going to be a long 8 months. Kerry made three major gaffes this week alone. The 1st quarter of any year is always the weakest economically and the "statistics" on the economy being "reported" are highly misleading. Turn the "Mainstream" media off. Go to Fox News, Talk Radio and the Internet for news. The "main steam press" are cheerleaders for the Democrats, always have been, always will be. Funny how we "conservatives" managed to win the last 3 elections cycles despite the "News Medias" best efforts to tell us how "well" the Democrats were going to do.

Even that could (and heaven forbid if it happens)backfire. I'm sure most citizens gave the President a free pass on 9/11. I don't think they will if it happens again. There's been too much we are safer now talk. The first strike caught us off guard. A second could be seen as a weakness in our leadership.

Plus, the dems could portray everything I've just written in a spin manner. If they overplay their hand, it could kill them. If spun in the right way, it could be terrible for President Bush.

I sure hope you didn't just accuse me of being a DemocRAT! NOTHING INSULTS ME MORE!!! I am life long REPUBLICAN, a VERY WORRIED Republican too! Everyone expected President Bush to beat Gore by a mile in 2000 and do you remember what happened! I DO!! YOU can put your head in the sand if you wish but not me!

I hope your right, but my prediction- the Madrid bombings and quick fall of the pro-Bush gov will be a strong negative in the US-not a positive.

we'll see. One thing for sure- you will see kerry use it in the next few days.
