Of course Dems are cheering. Spain is acheiving the dem dream for this country. Anyone who votes for Kerry must be Anti American or want to see the country destroyed. The man is either a traitor or a liar, or both.

I think it'll happen, but that Americans will react differently from the Spanish.

You have more confidence in them then I do, then. As demonstrated in Spain, when something bad happens, the tendency is to quickly assess blame. Rather than blame the terrorists, the Dimocrats will yell at the top of their voices that Bush is to blame - that the war on terror was ineffectual - and unfortunatly, many will choose to believe that simple association rather than dig a little deeper for the truth.

I agree. I think terrorist attacks in other countries only emphasize the need for strong leadership in our own. And if (God forbid) there was another attack in this country, I think the result would be the same. It seems to me as if the Democratic/Kerry position is that we kind of "overreacted" to 9/11... there were no weapons of mass destruction, we "rushed in," etc., etc. This mindset, of course, requires minimizing the memory of 9/11 (hence all the complaints about the President's advertisements). Sadly, although a lot of Americans seem to think 9/11 was really tragic, their concern seems to be limited to putting a flag sticker in their car and talking about what a turning point it was for them personally, etc., but then within a year it goes back to "but what about me?" Then the focus becomes health care, stock market, and the like, and the fear of terrorism fades. Further attacks, here or elsewhere, illustrate the stupidity of this position.

Plus, as proclaimed by many Freepers, AWB, CFR, immigration bla, bla, bla. You know the ones. They will "show HIM!" and stand on "principle". I wonder how many Spaniards had that same mentality as they punched the voting card or stayed home.

I always figure if we all get blown to kingdom come, or if our country falls to the terrorists, health care and the status of one's 401(k) will become less important. I heard about a bumper sticker I really like: "If you can read this, thank a teacher. If you are reading this in English, thank a soldier." I think that sums up my feelings pretty accurately.
