looks like the Socialists in Spain spent their "National Day of Mourning" on Friday organizing huge protests for Saturday. Hope PP prevails.

Looks very close from your report. Are there any minor parties in which PP could form a coalition or are the PP and the PSOE(socialist) the only players.

I sure hope skynews is right, and even foxnews exit poll showed a dead-heat. There is no doubt in my mind that the Popular Party hurt themselves by not being frank about this looking like Islamic terrorists. If they had just said "This looks like Islamic terror, and we will fight it with every ounce of our being", they would have won in a landslide. Instead they covered-up and downplayed the islamic threat, and while i still hope and think they will win, that will hurt them.

Nervous Nellies, maybe just a a few folks who have a little bit of concerned based upon their contacts with history and reality. Based upon info at the end of the thread, it appears their concerns may have been justified.

Polls are closed and so far the results are not good!
PSOE is winning between 154 and 158 seats, while the Partido Popular is winning between 150 and 154 seats.

Based upon info at the end of the thread, it appears their concerns may have been justified. I was going by the intial report on this thread. It looks very close anyway. Also some were saying the socialists were going to win in a runaway.

In fact it seems like the initial word might have been wrong. According to the BBC two polls have the socialists in a narrow lead.

Instead they covered-up and downplayed the islamic threat, and while i still hope and think they will win, that will hurt them. That's BS, sorry you feel for the socialist-media lie. The Spanish gov't never covered anything up, Thursday evening they were talking about investigating in multiple directions, both ETA and AQ. But they had initial evidence pointing to ETA, plus they arrested ETA members with 1,100 lbs. of explosives near Madrid less than 2 weeks earlier. But like the lying media here, their media immediately spun it as the govt denying any possibility of AQ involvement, and rushing to blame ETA. If the gov't was covering things up, why did the announce again Friday and Saturday that they were considering AQ, why not wait until now? If the govt was covering things up, why did they arrest the Islamists last night, why not wait until now?
Pretty disheartening when even some conservatives swallow leftist lies so easily.

If Al-Qaeda can make people vote its way by attacking them... Europe is in deep *&^%. The Europeans can come to expect more terrorists attacks near election days, as Al Qaeda now knows it can get its candidate elected that way. I'd like to see them try it here... THESE COLORS DON'T RUN.

Sky NewsSPAIN ELECTION RESULTS
Spain's opposition Socialists (PSOE) and the ruling Popular Party (PP) are neck and neck in the country's general elections, according the latest exit polls.
Reports have given the PP and PSOE between 38% and 41% share of the votes each.
According to figures, more than 62% of voters have turned out in the Spanish general elections - over seven percent more than the number in the last elections four years ago.
Earlier, Spanish Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar and his appointed successor, Mariano Rajoy, cast their ballots.
Mr Aznar, who is retiring, stepped into a Madrid polling station with his tearful wife Ana Botella.
As they left, Mr Aznar tried to make a declaration but was drowned out by cries of support from supporters and shouts of "manipulator" from opponents.
Elsewhere in the city, Rajoy faced similar cries from detractors, many of them youths, who yelled "Liar" and "You fascists are terrorists".
The accusation stemmed from confusion over who was behind Thursday's blasts which killed 200 people and wounded 1,500.
The government initially blamed the Basque separatist group Eta but a video claiming the attacks in the name of al-Qaeda has now emerged.
The video, which was being authenticated, said the bombings had been punishment for Spain's support of the US occupation of Iraq.
Up to 7,000 demonstrators took to the streets on Saturday and accused the Popular Party (PP) of lying about who was responsible.
The Spanish electoral commission said it had filed a lawsuit on behalf of the party claiming that the protests constituted a bid to influence voters on the eve of the election.
Eta has repeated its denial of responsibility for the attacks.

I disagree. The media didn't spin it that way at all. The media seemed to buy into the "its a local thing" line, because they also like to downplay the islamic threat. It was clear to me that this was Islamic terrorists from day one and I didn't like the fact that the spanish were pushing the theory that it wasnt. However, voting for an appeasement candidate is the absolute wrong way to handle it, and the Spanish should be ashamed of themselves.
