This is why the rest of the world’s liberals hate America and the rank and file citizen’s love us. It’s called Carhenge and it’s located in Western Nebraska. It’s not this art/mockery/free expression called Carhenge that causes this hatred, it’s the freedom to produce it that does.

A group of people had some land and decided that they wanted to make a monument to a man named Reinders, and they did it. I look at this and I see freedom and liberty, I also laugh and marvel at the ingenuity of it all. Yes it’s pure genius, the same genius that causes Cubans to make a truck into a boat, risk life and limb to obtain that precious thing we call freedom.

Bring me a room full of liberals (foreign and domestic) and I will hear Automobiles are WMD’s, we are mocking a sacred religious site, we are polluting the land with discarded cars and America has no culture. If by no culture they mean bathing then I say “Down with Culture”.

There would be no laughter from these doom and gloom leftists. They never see greatness in freedom only a world in peril and it’s the fault of America. Nothing has changed in the last 60 years; America is still leading the fight for liberty and Leftists are still opposing it.

And to think, it's thousands of years old and no one knows who built it, or how, or why...

I was driving in western Nebraska last summer and saw this. Wasn't planning to, but it is right by the road. Can't miss it as long as you are on that road (was heading towards the Museum of the Fur Trade in Chadron, NE). Interesting. There are a LOT of interesting places on roads that are not Interstate.

Notice how the Chevy Vega points towards the winter solistice...and the Plymouth Horizon acting as a sundial...well...that's just amazing they could have figured that all out.

I LOVE Carhenge. I drove cross-country about 8 years ago after getting laid off and I made sure to see this on my way through Nebraska. I was on my way from Scotts Bluff to Ogallala and took a detour up there to see it.

For those of you who like oddball roadside attractions like this, check out www.roadsideamerica.com. They have a huge amount of info about roadside kitsch all over the nation. They also publish a book that I used on my trip. I got to see the giant Jolly Green Giant in Blue Earth Minnesota, Worlds Largest Six-Pack (at the Heileman Brewery in Wisconsin), etc. Big fun!

The one about 5 o'clock looks like my old pinto when I was in high school.
If anybody is out that way I left an 8-track of Robin Trower in the glove compartment.

Reminds me of Cadillac Ranch built by the Ant Farm a few miles outside of Amarillo.
