I'm a big history buff, particularly military history, but I didn't learn much of it in school during the '70s and '80s. Had to do it on my own time.

That's how I learned it. It's one of the reasons Snippy and I are doing the FReeper Foxhole, to let others know there are stories out there that aren't being taught.

Ask any middle or High School student who Harriet Tubman was, and they'll be able to tell you. Then ask them who Jefferson Davis was or Robert E. Lee. The drawl coming out of the sides of their mouths and the half-closed eyes will make you laugh.

I know of no other country in the world that hates themselves so much.

It's the American left that hates America. Some people in this world think we are too proud.

Americans do not hate themselves. Those who write text-books do not represent the American mainstream--nor has the Left missed an opportunity to undermine our culture, since the 1930s.

If you go back to the New Deal days, you will discover that there was a Federal Writers' Project--part of the New Deal make work projects--which provided a magnate for Leftist writers. They turned out a flood of Leftwing materials for school libraries, etc.. I suspect that many of them later graduated into text book writing, although I admit that I have not studied that facet.

Another root to the Leftist slant in textbooks, may be found in the influence of those whom I have referred to as the "Mythmakers," and others of their ilk. See Myths & Mythmakers In American "Higher" Education.

For a lot more than two decades, there has been a push towards brainwashing our youth to believe in an undifferentiated humanity. Concepts like nation, heritage, lines of descent, are seen as threatening to those who want to reduce all mankind to the level of a gigantic humanoid ant hill.

We have our work cut out for us, if we would recapture American education.

Where were the US against slavery since it's inception? They weren't the first to outlaw slavery, even South Africa outlawed it before the US. Slavery probably would have continued longer if it wasn't for the Civil War. Having said that, I barely paid attention in history in school because it was too generalized and boring. If I was in charge, kids would read books like Tocqueville and forget all that overpriced, glossy crap.

You prove my argument. History should be learned and understood and you have no idea of what I was saying.

The crap taught in our schools ferments the racial relationship.

"Im constantly amazed by this endless self abasement by Americans.
I know of no other country in the world that hates themselves so much.

What happened in the last 20 years and why?"

Not all Americans hate themselves i.e. their nation. There is about a "third" who indeed love and respect this nation.

There is a "third" who hate what it stands for. This hate comes from their religion of believing they are "gods". In their religion of "we are gods", they hate the Creator and the fact that this nation was founded upon the principle that "RIGHTS given by the CREATOR no man/government can give or take".

As "gods" they believe they give and take "rights". This third has sought to pervert the Constitution and the will of the people by any means possible.

The last third in this nation sits on the fence and waits to see which way the wind is blowing before they pick a winner. This group is the mindless middle. They have no core beliefs, and are what gives either the left or the right power, and they know that.

Since Reagan the "left" fearing a total loss of their identity, and power have left no institution untouched in their effort to accomplish their goals. BJClinton administration was the reached utopia of perversion. These who reached that ultimate "we are gods" stature lost their power and they want it back.

The United States from it's inception was against slavery and led the world in its abolition.
----

I was responding to the above statement which is false. So exactly what are you trying to say then? I happen to agree that a lot of what is taught in history classes isn't history but some professor's opinion which mostly liberal goblygook.

What History books do you read.

What I did say was that if the Blacks were taught a little true History race relations would be much better.

I've read Tocqueville,Federalist Papers, etc. Right now I'm reading Tocqueville all over again, this time with a red pen. I am much more familiar with European history and African history (esp. it relates to colonialism).

American History taught in its pure form would make both black and white people eat a lot of humble pie AND be happy to be Americans at the same time. A lot of what is taught in history is really sociology, and doesn't belong there.

As far as true history, what would that entail? There's a whole lot of American history to teach.
