TAKOMA PARK, Md. (AP) -- The affluent, liberal city of Takoma Park is home to activists and war opponents, but charges that a resident was an agent for the Iraqi government has drawn surprise and skepticism in the Washington, D.C., suburb.

"People in Takoma Park are very committed to social justice, peace and nonviolence," said Linda Schade, member of a local anti-war group. "That is more like the type of person who lives in Takoma Park rather than a spy."

Actually, Linda, there is a very disproportionately large overlap between 'social justice' etc groups and spies. See Verona. You and your type of people oppose the very principles this country is based on and are much more likely to betray it.

Some sleepless nights on the loony left as they try to spin this as *eeeeeeeeeeevil Ashcroft*,

I think none of them have a clue, obviously. However, they were obviously never taught that ignorance of the law is no excuse.

This is what happens when *activist* becomes a job category.

Color me disgusted.

"We don't know whether they are on a fishing expedition to go after all D.C.-based activists who raised opposition to the war," he said.

Whether on a fishing expedition or what? Maybe "they" are good citizens and take their job upholding the Constitution seriously. Bush should have had all the traitors going to Iraq, i.e. Congressmen, Actors, and all the nuts alike investigated in a high profile manner! It is time to smoke these people out and hold them up to the light! Besides all of the Commie traitors would be whining and crying so hard it would interrupt their propaganda processes other than the usual shouts of McCarthyism!!

"Activist town shocked over resident accused of spying for Iraq"

Thats what happens when you live in an 'activist' town. This lady prolly wanted to achieve the pinnacle of respectability within that community. In her 'activist' town, radicalism is embraced and encouraged, she obviously crossed the line from radicalism into espionage. She didnt know it because it is not that far from normal behavior in her community.

She took money from iraq during a wartime situation and tried to influence the government in a covert way. Perhaps the iraqis were trying to open a 'back channel' with the US Government, doesnt matter, she took money. Sounds alot like what scott ritter did they should arrest him too.

The bottom line in my book is that her crime (which I agree is espionage) is merely the logical conclusion to the anti-war movements goals. Undermine, Infiltrate and sabotage.

I think that general nugyen giap would be proud of her.

Treat her like a war criminal, throw her in jail under suspicion for subversive actions with no trial date. Is she pro-life? All the more reason cause they have been known to shoot abortionists. Did she say anything obscene when they arrested her? The FCC should slap a half million dollar fine on her for that. We cant have our children traumatized by her.

Lindauer also is accused of trying to influence White House Chief of Staff Andrew Card, a distant cousin, on behalf of Iraqi intelligence agents she met in Baghdad and New York. Card told FBI agents ....

Anyone care to wager whether Mostley-Fraud or Wyden told the FBI that they had an enemy agent working in their office?

Acquaintance Kate Brown described Lindauer as a gentle, "earthy" peace activist who reminded her of a kindergarten teacher.

Pretty much sums up the mindset of all the goo-goo kumbya types.

I have to get back to my clay modeling and finger paints...

The problem with these people is that they firmly believe that they hold the moral high ground. They believe that they are the ultimate authority on justice, truth and morality. Therefore, they can easily justify traitorous activities because in their mind they are not doing anything wrong. Well, too bad, stupidity and/or arrogance are no excuse for treason.

Thats why that town is the way it is. It all starts in kindergarten.

"If she did do anything wrong, she probably had no idea she was doing anything wrong.........She underwent a court-ordered psychiatric evaluation Thursday.......she has worked to stop terrorism and return weapons inspectors to Iraq. She has since declined to comment.

The seeds of an insanity defense have already been planted and the some of the things she said have sounded pretty goofy.

But Lindauer also is accused of trying to influence White House Chief of Staff Andrew Card, a distant cousin, on behalf of Iraqi intelligence agents she met in Baghdad and New York. Card told FBI agents that Lindauer had tried to contact him several times on behalf of the former regime, according to White House spokesman Scott McClellan.

There is a lot of evidence here to suggest she initiated the process and rationally worked to influence decision making. There's no way Iraqi intelligence would know anything about this person if she had not initiated something.

Of course the anti-American Moseley-Braun and Wyden didn’t tell the FBI, yet those two will be the first to scream: “How dare you question our patriotism!”

Ahh, so now it's a "fishing expedition" to get all the antiwar freaks, according to these fools. I expected as much. Let the railing against the Bush admin, the Patriot Act, and patriots in general, begin. If there is a trial, expect a circus.

I think you are exactly right. I've talked with some of these types, and it's just amazing that they think that by working against what our military is doing in Iraq, they are actually "helping" the country. Also--there is no reasoning with them. Perhaps because they are entirely unreasonable people. They remind me of brainwashed zombies who march, shout, and sloganize on cue.

Affluent?? Takoma Park is a crime-ridden ghetto with pockets of burned-out leftists in their fifties and sixties. If I had to drive through there in the daytime, I would still lock my car doors.
