George, you've become old. When you're young, that schtick is that of a wry, ironic cynic. When you're old, you're just a curmudgeon.

bump - George Carlin was the warm up comedian at my high school prom. Gary Plunkett and the Union Gap were the headliners.

It's a respect issue. Not religious.

"The whole problem with this idea of obscenity and indecency, and all of these things bad language and whatever it's all caused by one basic thing, and that is: religious superstition. ... There's an idea that the human body is somehow evil and bad and there are parts of it that are especially evil and bad, and we should be ashamed. Fear, guilt and shame are built into the attitude toward sex and the body. ... It's reflected in these prohibitions and these taboos that we have."
If capping a performance with the exhibition of a mutilated (pierced) nipple is acceptable behavior at family safe entertainment like the Super Bowl, where would Mr. Carlin draw the line?
Are mutilated genitals acceptable for broadcast too?
If the human body is so beautiful, why are these sadomasochists multilating it and then dangling their parts in public?

George Carlin thinks of himself in all seriousness as a sagacious philosopher. But when I read his words I always see revealed a bitterness, the kind of bitterness an old man might have who's been carrying a chip on his shoulder since he was a little kid.

Thank you, George Carlin, for your ever increasingly obsolete and nihilist point of view.
Carlin has been on a long slide downward since his show on Fox with a small annoying dog as a partner died after one season, fifteen years ago.
He has said years ago that he doesn't vote, and even if he did he shows he's an idiot liberal.
My advice for Carlin is to shut up and take a good sharp look at what is happening in this world and take note of exactly what is wrong with it.
If he looks accurately he will find that what he complains about and mocks has brought the US to be what we are today.

He also thinks President Bush... is trying to placate right-wing voters. While Bush could only placate Carlin by dying by poison, which Carlin thought the funniest thing he could imagine when Bush was elected.
I've a different sense of humor.

Talking about indecency, anyone see that new animated program on sci-fi channel called "Tripping the Rift". I saw it last night and was shocked. This 3-breasted space alien was humping a robot and pulled off the robot's special appendage that hangs below the waistline belt. That was during her moans and yelling "Oh God" repeatedly. The program was awful. After watching for about 2 minutes, I turned the channel. Nothing about the program was entertaining or funny. It was gross. Worse than Homer Simpson. Very blatant animated pornography.

These tasteless, self-obsessed 'entertainers' do a better job of proving the need for decency regulations than we could ever hope to with our best arguments.
Twenty years ago, the seven forbidden 'words' were about as shocking as you could get. Now it has degraded to encouraging couples to have sex in St. Patrick's Cathedral and broadcasting the 'stunt' over the radio. Thank G-- those pigs were caught and arrested.

"More of the same, more of the same. What are we, surprised?" Carlin told The Associated Press
Funny thing is, I thought exactly the same thing of Carlin, et al.
