I am afraid, this could be the beginning of a series of attacks. The first thing -- cripple major roadways, bridges, then come the rest of the attacks. Al Qaeda has shown they like multiple attacks.

Just today the FBI was warning about attacks on oil refineries in Texas.

I wouldn't dare post this anywhere except on this thread -- but what if the next thing is a nuke attack in NY -- and one of the escape/evacuation roads is closed.

BRIDGEPORT -- A terror threat targets Connecticut's busiest stretch of highway, the Interstate-95 corridor in Bridgeport. State police began stepping up security in the area Thursday.

The response is a coordinated effort between local and state police, the Coast Guard, and Homeland Security.

People taking the port Jefferson ferry to long island underwent police checks of vehicles at the docks today.

One of the more visible signs of the increased security measures put into place after authorities received information that Bridgeport could be targeted.

"It's nerve-wracking .. .you see police, and all that's going on, you often wonder," said Long Island resident Timothy Smith.

"What we've done now because of the alerts we've increased police to 24 hours, seven days a week," says Joseph Savino the Harbormaster. "Matter of fact, we just got back to the dock. We were out on patrol."

the alert appears to involve the stretch of I-95 that skirts the city, an area that includes the ferry terminal. The I-95 bridge over the harbor and the Metro North tracks that run parallel to the highway.

"It began with homeland security in Washington obtaining intelligence information and passing it to Connecticut," says State Police spokesman Sgt. Paul Vance. "In this day and age, all intelligence is taken seriously and passed on to law enforcement agencies that it might affect."

State police stress that the intelligence in this situation is both non-specific and unsubstantiated, but is taken very seriously -- hence the increased security.

Measures people seem willing to put up with for the peace of mind it affords them.

"Better the security here than to have a problem when we're out in the middle of Long Island sound on a boat," says Robert Mancuso.

Granny has been wearing a tinfoil hat on these accidents that closed roads, since 9-11.

I don't remember all of them and have no brains left today,
but if we do a list, it will be like the "White Powder" list, it will grow and grow.

It has been 2 years or more, since I noticed that a lot of the truck and bus accidents seemed to happen on overpasses or bridges.

Remember the church bus in Texas? I looked at the pictures of that and the bus had gone to the right of the guard rail, continued some 200 to 400 feet and then hit an overpass.

To me it looked like, there was no effort to stop, even tho on the dirt. Oh, Yes the driver looked like an arab.

Do you recall the barge that took out the bridges in Oklahoma, on the main freeway and rerouted the traffic thru Oklahoma for several months. I followed that story for months and guess what, it is still a mystery.

The barge hit a bridge down river, then went on until it came to the freeway and took it out.

There were a couple of train accidents back east last year that were strange and closed the roads....

The California fire last year had all roads closed, several times.

I know that I was following the I-8 freeway that goes from San Diego to El Centro and east, it kept getting closed by
burning cars and it seemed that they were not from the 'fire'. The road was open, then all of a sudden an abandoned car on fire.

Yes, I know that there were many cars and even a TV truck, that were burned and directly related to the fire.

The Calif. Highway Patrol was reporting all the attempts to start fires by arsonists, over and over, and I was watching the roads be closed.

When I lived in San Diego during the Viet Nam war, we were warned about leaving town, and there were 3 routes out of town, to Los Angeles, Mexico and I-8 East, it was a fear then and would still be today.

When all the bus wrecks were happening, I wore tinfoil daily, if you recall one of the accidents, was caused by the driver's throat being cut with a box cutter.

Not many months ago, there was a gas tanker in Washington, and I went and found the pictures of it.....

Looked like it was possible that it was not an accident, he had driven into the guard rail, on nice level ground, on the freeway.

About 8 years ago, the same sort of incident happened on I-287, near White Plains, New York -- truck exploded and wiped out an overpass. The road was closed for weeks. AQ was not to blame then and I doubt it is to blame now. Sometimes shitzui just happens. And if AQ trying to close down an escape route, I doubt they would chose a spot 60 miles from NYC.
