There's a statement posted on capitolfax from Borling's campaign manager who says he seen Ryan's divorce records.
I'm not going to post the details, there's a PDF of the statement there if you want to look at it and some other posts about it at illinoisleader.com.
Pretty scandalous stuff. If its true he's definately toast but for the life of me I can't imagine how someone could run for office knowing they had skeletons like this in their closet that were detailed in court records.

Didn't read it, but this kind of stuff is why I'm voting for Rauschenberger(sp) in the primary. I think he's the safe candidate, the only truly competent one in the bunch that can win the general. I was always skeptical of Ryan..his glitz never impressed me. And I don't understand for the life of me where the groudswell of support came from for him. Of course, I'll still support him if he gets the nomination :)

"Facts" from a divorce case? His ex wife was "forced" to have sex in front of other people at sex clubs? Released on a Thurday before the Tuesday election?

On a side note-Why does Borling apparently despise Ryan so much?? I saw a televised debate and this guy Borling never passed up a chance to needle Ryan..

Then where are the criminal charges?
To: Interloper
If the court records were sealed, how did the opponent get them? Is that illegal in Illinois?

Released on a Thurday before the Tuesday election? They must have thought it was Friday. Better get that watch fixed.
I looked at the pdf. Looks kinda shaky to me.
I am not a Ryan fan, but I don't put a lot of faith in these type "bombshells" prior to an election.

I've never studied them but there are causes of action related to the invasion of privacy. One of them I think is called Invasion of Privacy, another is called something like Intrusion upon Seclusion. I mention this because the author of the faxed statement is releasing information that was sealed by the court.
However, Ryan is a public figure, so the same protections that allow people to effectively defame public figures would likely allow this fax release. It is, a court would say, newsworthy in the context of an election.

Whatever happened to 'irrconcileable differences'.
Sad for any person to have is private life on the net; and as unsavory as Ryans's appears to be; those responsible for putting this out there on the net are surely dispicable human beings.
No doubt these same individuals are against the invasion of privacy of the Patriot Act. . .and scream that Bush is violating their rights as citizens.

This has all the earmarks of a smear job with a legal caption. Was Gen. Borling too timid to hatch this smear job himself, and so he let his underling do the deed?
To: dts32041
I know Borling is a liberal Republican...but are you saying his campaign manager is controlled by Daley??

I was most likely going to vote for Ryan anyway, the only question was whether or not I would make it to the polls (I won't bore you with the details).
After seeing this played up on the news here in Chicago and on the IL leader message board this evening, I can definitely say that the only way I won't make it to the polls and vote for Ryan is if God Almighty calls me home before hand.

Are you asking whether illinois politics aren't controlled by the daley madigan mob?

The charges are all hearsay, from the campaign manager of a political opponent. The only thing of any interest is the sex club thingie, that the wife was allegedly "forced" to attend.

Borling says he knows what's in Ryan's hidden divorce files
It's getting ugly out there.
Underdog Republican Senate candidate John Borling says he has information about the hidden records of front-runner Jack Ryan's divorce from TV actress Jeri Ryan, but he does not want to use the information because "I find this matter distasteful."
Ryan is sending out automated telephone calls with "an urgent message" to GOP voters, warning of "an unprecedented smear campaign aimed at Jack Ryan and his family."
Ryan's divorce from the Hollywood TV star became a campaign issue last week, when Borling and three other GOP candidates -- dairy owner Jim Oberweis, businessman Andy McKenna Jr. and state Sen. Steve Rauschenberger -- called on Ryan to make all the documents public.
They argued that GOP voters need to know that he is not hiding any scandals that the Democrats could use against him if he wins the nomination.
The Chicago Tribune entered the fray this week, filing an "immediate order" in Los Angeles County Superior Court, asking the judge to return all the papers to Ryan's file.
