Utah Girl:
When does Hatch's current term end? I would love to see a primary opponent defeat him. I am a lawyer and it is a catastrophe what this imbecile has done over the last several decades on the Judiciary Committee. Please tell me we can get rid of him---as well as Specter--who faces a primary in PA at the end of April. Don't Utahans see him for what he is.

Don't Utahans see him for what he is? No. And as long as he isn't openly vulgar and remains sufficiently subdued and reverent seeming, he will remain as is. Yes, that's a local cultural thing.

Hatch's term is over in 2006. He wants to be a Supreme Court justice, which I suspect is the real reason he is kissing Leahy's hand. And Hatch is absolutely deluded in thinking that any of the Dems on Judiciary committee will remember his "evenhandedness and fairness." They'll have the knives out for him immediately.
