Speaking of Illinois, the current incarnation of Mayor Daley slammed Kerry for his intemperant remarks.

I heard that, and for the life of me, I can't figure out why.
It has me wondering if the worst parts of Kerry's comments
were edited out of the video tape.

Apparently, there are just some things you don't say in politics. Politicians know it. You don't call your opponent crooked or a liar (directly). There are a lot of reasons. A practical one is that it smacks of desperation.
