Military Lear Jet, sounds like some big wigs were on board. We'll all have to pray that they all got out alive and well.

Military Lear Jet, sounds like some big wigs were on board. It's a Cessna Citation, not a Lear, and it may have had only crew on board with perhaps one passenger (two pilots, one or two crew chiefs).
My husband and I were stationed at Miramar until we moved to Seattle. We probably know the pilots and/or the passengers. We can't find out anything right now, but we are on pins and needles waiting to see who was onboard.

Just got the word from our buddies at Miramar; four fatalities, all crew. Two pilots, two crew chiefs. I don't know any of them but my husband knows both pilots and one of the crew chiefs.

As pointed out previously, the aircraft was a Marine UC35, the militarized version of a Cessna Citation.
The military Learjet version is the C21A, quickly and easily identified by its T-tail configuration.
