Senate Poll (For IL GOP and RAT Nominee)
week.com/ ^ | 03/10/04 | AP

A new poll shows Democrat Barack Obama and Republican Jack Ryan are ahead in their nomination battles for the U.S. Senate.

The Chicago Tribune/WGN-TV poll shows former Democrat front-runner Blair Hull has seen support plummet. His campaign has been dogged by questions over a messy divorce.

At the same time, attempts to raise questions of character against Ryan over his divorce from actress Jeri Ryan have been unsuccessful.

The poll finds 32 percent of Republican voters polled favor Ryan in the primary. Eleven percent support dairy owner Jim Oberweis.

Among Democrats, Obama had the support of 33 percent of the probable voters. Nineteen percent support Dan Hynes and 16 percent support Hull.

The poll was conducted March Third to the Sixth. It has an error margin of four percentage points.

Thanks for the heads up...wow, has Hull taken a hit ever since the abuse allegations stemming from his divorce have surfaced. I hope Obama is the 'rat nominee, he'll be easier to beat.

Obama's even leading among whites. That's pretty hugh. But he has the nomination locked up since he's at 70% of blacks and still rising. Hull and Hynes are still splitting the white vote, so they can't get to 1/3.

That's a whole lotta money down the drain.

Jack Ryan's taking his lumps on the divorce thing now, in the primary, which isn't all bad. (Doesn't help him that his thing coincides with Hull's abuse charges.)

It's disturbing that Illinois Republicans still seem to have interest in Taliban Jim Oberweis, though. You'd think a candidate who denounced pro-lifers, ran as a moderate, switch to calling himself pro-life, ran as a conservative, all of a sudden discovered he's against illegal immigration, admitted his ads on the subject weren't factual, and cozied up to the George Ryan clan would be toast by now. I wonder if George Ryan is doing some stuff for him behind the scenes.

Why is everybody worried about what lieutenant of the Daley Crime is going to win a rigged election.

In illinois you don't advance unless you kiss the two capos hands, jesse "the bastard maker" jackson, and Richard "the fat boy" Daley.

Well, I like both Ryan and Oberweis... it seems though that Oberweis is more blunt and truthful. Should we go for electability or ideology?

looks like Hull and Hynes will lose to Obama (was he born in Africa?)

and unless Ryan divorce was messy or his ex-wife talks crap about him..he has fair chance to retain the IL seat....

WHICH only few days ago looked lost for the GOP

Kenyan in US Senate race
By Patrick Mathangani and Mishael Ondiek

Obama was born on August 4, 1961, in Hawaii, where his father, Barack Obama, had gone to study in 1959.
The senior Obama, who died in Kenya in 1982, was a beneficiary of scholarships initiated by the late Tom Mboya. He was the son of Mzee Hussein Onyango Obama of Ndori, Alego-Siaya in Nyanza Province.

While in Hawaii, the senior Obama met his wife Toot, who bore him Barack.

Obama Jnr stayed in Kenya for some time before he went back to the US in 1988, and made Chicago his political base.
