Martin Savidge leaving CNN for NBC (The blood-letting at CNN Center continues)

Martin Savidge, one of CNN's well-known reporters, is leaving for NBC News.

He will be based in Atlanta.

Savidge's profile was raised when he reported from the ground in Iraq as an embedded journalist.

As a national correspondent based in Atlanta, he also covered the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon, the school shootings in Arkansas and Oregon, the wildfires in Florida and hurricanes Bonnie, Georges and Mitch.

Jim Walton, president of CNN, said in a statement: "Marty has proven time and time again that intellect, ability and courage make for a great reporter. As someone who has grown with CNN over the years we are grateful for all that he has contributed and wish him the best."

I knew Marty when I was at CNN - he's one of the good guys.

Yes I remember reading his columns and found them fair and well written. Too bad he's not making much of an improvement in networks....Katie and Matt will either convert him or ostracize him.
