Sigh. This is embarassing. Some Cato-cretin will undoubtedly explain that this is also a good sign...

Are you sure you don't want to put this 10 January article in "Breaking News"?

If this is good news, why are the Liberals tanking in the polls? Paul Martin should dissolve Parliament and call a snap election to test the theory an economy roaring on all cylinders is a party's biggest asset in an election.

I'd love to know who cooked up these numbers. The Asians were critical of a "meager" 21,000 new jobs last month. SOURCE.

However bad it may be, it certainly isn't that bad.

The article does a great job of not saying in what area (manufacturing? service? government?) the jobs are being created, except for the tossaway line "One reason might be that public sector hiring was more important to the job market in 2003...".

If the jobs explosion is in government, then it's just more of la grande illusion.

Canada's job growth soars past U.S.

Soars past? Don't hold your breath.

Anothe great example of unbiased reporting - he gloats as he compares the job creation numbers, but when he quotes the canadian unemployment numbers of 7.4%, he conveniently neglects to point out the fact that it is almost 2 points lower in the US - 5.6%!!!

Lots of new gov't jobs. The US could do this, too, but the US is also giving lip-service to remaining non-socialist.

God forbid that some other country add to its employment. Must be our fault.

53,000 new jobs created in Canada in Dec? Big deal! Where will the snow shovel brigades find work when spring comes?
