One man was killed and another wounded Tuesday afternoon when a shooting between two groups of men sent sun worshippers diving for cover at San Francisco's crowded Ocean Beach.
Witnesses described how the two groups -- who police believe are gangs from Daly City and Oakland -- clashed in the beach's parking lot along the Great Highway at 3 p.m. Those in the larger group of five or six men pulled out a knife and a screwdriver, and then a gun, to attack the smaller group of three men.

See? This is what happens when the powerful NRA Lobby gets these CCW laws passed, against all the wishes of the peaceful, law-abiding, safety-consious citizenry!
Oh, wait an minute. This is Ocean Beach, California, not Ocean Beach, North Carolina!!
Sorry.
It was safe to go after the guy with the club, rather than the shooter. Remember, the most important thing for a cop is that he goes home after his shift is over, not whether or not you do.
Not fot the people with guns, they're not.
Permit me to give you a serious answer. Media should supply the reader or viewer with as many accurate facts as possible at all times. The reader/viewer will then be able to make the most informed judgment possible under the circumstances. Crime reporting is of particular importance to the public because it allows citizens to make decisions and take action to ensure their own safety. If violent criminals are at large in a neighborhood, the residents should know as much about them as possible. This includes the most accurate possible physical descriptions, their clothing, language, preferred hangouts -- everything that could help the populace identify the criminals and take appropriate action.
Anyone who has lived in California for some time and reads this story will know something about these particular criminals as soon as he reads "gangs from Daly City and Oakland". He will know more when he reads "That's my homeboy!" Newcomers, foreigners, tourists, and possibly some idealistic liberals will be baffled by the phrasing of crime stories as reported by the politically correct press. They might very well think that the hoodlums involved were Russian or Ukrainian.
I know it is hard to hear this, but we all pretty much know it was not European white guys.
All cultures are not the same.
