Back in Calif. there was a girl, Becky I think her name was (I was 8 or 9), that hung out with us when we explored.

This Becky, was she the one who had to go first when you weren't sure what to expect? "It's just a little ole' lion's den, Becky, we'll be right behind you"??

A four footer trapped itself in a buddy of mine's livewell on his dock one time. You are right, it wasn't no gecko. It was a mean little spud and had a nice set of choppers.

Just coming out of the foothills of the mountains around Ojai, they built large underground water aqueducts for flood control (but they even backed up in the huge floods of 1968 or 1969 as the rain forced too much water into the river bottom all the way to Ventura). She decided we'd spend a day going into them.

Hours later we realized we might not find the end or a way out and headed back. Besides, it was totally dark and our flashlight batteries were going to be going out. And I was pretty scared! lol

Your teacher didn't happen to stop at lounge that had an artesian well in the parking lot did he? A old professor of mine when he was teaching high school took a group of students to the Okefenokee one time and stopped at an artesian well on the side of the road to teach the students how they were formed. The parents were not happy that this particular artesian well was in the parking lot of an adult club, and happened to be open for business that day. None of the students went in, but I think a few of the patrons and employees came out for an impromptu science lesson.
