[history]
There's an interesting buzz going around the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission over Deputy Director Harlan Kelly's new Ford Explorer -- and the $4,000 paint job he ordered on the vehicle right after its delivery.
Kelly was elevated from the Public Works Department by outgoing Mayor Willie Brown to help manage the Hetch Hetchy system's planned $1 billion bond overhaul. In the process, he was handed a sweet, five-year contract that paid him a $185,000 salary and called for him to get a new car.

Just about all of the news coming from San Francisco these days makes me want to take a shower (and be thankful I don't live anywhere near there).

It used to be a great place to live. Now when I go there for business I feel the need for a full body condom.

The only trouble with a government job in San Francisco is dealing with the scum peons who pay taxes!! I guess that's the case in most cities.

SF taxpayers forced to pay for a paint job on an SUV? Talk about adding insult to injury . . .
To: NormsRevenge
I agree. Greed, graft, greed, graft.

Kelly was elevated from the Public Works Department by outgoing Mayor Willie Brown... Willie's just taking care of a "brother", part of his "Reparations for Special Friends" Program, no news here.

"Oh, for the days of Sally Stanford when even the madams had class.....When I lived there, some of the best coversations I have ever had were with some old cab drivers. Grizzled old coots who knew San Francisco in & out and top to bottom.
A few of them would tell great stories of SF in the 30's,40's and 50's. Tales of the "Old Class Joints" as they called them. These guys were the real keepers of the history of the heydays of 'Baghdad by the Bay' as Herb Caen used to call it.
Now, San Francisco just ain't there anymore. Its just a low class joiny full of wanna-be's and scum.
But once upon a time...its was almost magical.
