[history]
Atheists and other nonbelievers set up a political action committee yesterday to endorse candidates and lobby lawmakers to remove all traces of religion from the government.
But organizers acknowledged that they face a major problem.
Most politicians won't want public support from their new group, which they are calling the Godless Americans Political Action Committee (GAMPAC).

The Godless American PAC will make a presidential endorsement, Miss Johnson said, adding that the group would consider making a third-party choice. Oh, I do hope so.

Oh, when will these Evangelical Atheists stop trying to force their religion on everyone else?

Saw the chubby fella with the glasses say, "we won't be the smartest kid in class that nobody likes anymore." (CSpan)
That about sums up, in so many nuanced ways, the mindset of the Godless: Too smart to believe in God; persecution complexes; think there smarter than everybody else.
I thought the broadcast was a spoof, SNL or something.

A personal plea: Can we keep our atheist bashing limited to those few "activist atheist" who are up to such nonsense. There are plenty of us out there who are life-long GOPers and we don't deserved to lumped in with the "chip on their shoulder" crowd.
Thx

Well, one thing for sure... those atheists will not be real thrilled to hear that kerry said in a black church over the weekend that he is ANNOINTED BY GOD TO BE THE NEXT PRESIDENT.
This from the Boston Globe.....
Kerry compares black, gay struggles Cites Bush's record of 'broken promises' By Patrick Healy, Globe Staff, 3/8/2004
JACKSON, Miss.~~~~ During a campaign swing through Mississippi yesterday, Senator John F. Kerry excoriated President Bush from the lectern of a black church.... While invoking God at various turns yesterday -- at one point saying he had been "anointed the next president of the United States" after Bishop Phillip Coleman laid hands on him."
To: kattracks
perhaps we can talk about what we can get in terms of promises from that candidate to help us out in return for not endorsing him Now, that's just plain screwy.

There are plenty of us out there who are life-long GOPers and we don't deserved to lumped in with the "chip on their shoulder" crowd. It's obvious that this is a attention grabbing effort of a self promoter. Anyone that assumes non-believers are represented by such ridiculous individuals needs to spend a little time with Jesse Jackson.
Equivalency isn't a conservative trait, but toleration is. That's why there is not the slightest impression that the effort discussed is conservative in any manner.

This will only help the liberals and gays trying to further dilute morals and church issues in the political arena. The conservative party is being attack and compromise by these liberal atheist activist, posing as conservatives. Divide and conquer.
To: kattracks
"Godless Americans" enter the fray by embracing extortion and character assasination.
It's as if they had no morals, if you can imagine that!

I suppose they believe in the first amendment.Nah, they only believe in twisting it into a means to force their chosen "faith" on the rest of us.

"kerry said in a black church over the weekend that he is ANNOINTED BY GOD TO BE THE NEXT PRESIDENT. "This is the same Kerry who said he didn't believe God told Bush to strike Afghanistan and Iraq? The Kerry who said he just hoped God was on our side?
