Scandinavian marriage scorned as model for U.S.

Traditional-values supporters are using Scandinavia and its liberal embrace of domestic partnerships and unwed childbearing to argue why same-sex "marriage" would be unhealthy for American culture.

In Scandinavia, marriage is now seen as "outdated," said Stanley Kurtz, senior research fellow at the Hoover Institution. Cohabiting, unwed childbearing and domestic partnerships are now common in these cultures, he said.

Careful...what would the world be without the inventive genius of the Norwegians. As they will quickly remind you, it was a Norwegians who invented the paper clip.

Beyond that, I do like the Norwegians, but I wouldn't want to use any of the Scandinavian countries as a model of the U.S. in any regard.

Homosexual Agenda Ping - more on the death of marriage in Scandanavia, and the homosexual rights folks outcry that nothing has anything to do with anything.

For people who think that "gay" marriage has nothing to do with them, if you live in a sewer, it doesn't matter how many showers you personally take. You're still going to live in with stench.

If anyone wants on/off this pinglist, ping me.

Edit - live in stench, or live with stench. Not both.

Uh, let's see. Legalizing homosexual so-called "marriage" in the USA in 2003 caused our "nontraditional family" rate to soar over the past 35 years.

That's about the most stupid--no, the most evil lie I've ever seen. Homosexuality is an abomination, but it had nothing to do with the family being destroyed here. Romanticism and the movement for "sexual freedom" and "independence" (in truth, rationalizing adultery) had everything to do with it.

How can the family survive when at any weak moment in a whole lifetime, a spouse and a lawyer can take an invincible legal hammer to the life of their other half, to the marriage and to the kids' futures with nothing more than a false allegation and a will to preemptively destroy the marriage? ...and most often to commit adultery, which is not only legal but much encouraged.

Both sins are way wrong, but, you know,..."beam," "mote," "eye"...hypocrites! If we stop our sex, goddess and money worship, we'll be on the right track and see more legitimate families. If we don't, Someone will do it for us, someday.

The more single parents, the more sexual identity crises...

Gaaackk.

Admitting "gay" soldiers will destroy our military; there's been many threads discussing that, with enlightening comments by experienced veterans and currently serving military guys. Accepting homosexuals will drive good men out, just like it did in the Catholic Church priesthood.

I think Scandanavia's social problems stem from one fundamental cause - God giving them over to their desires. Almost as if He noted that these countries don't want marriage as it was intended, so now they won't have it at all.

And of course gay marriage is one part of the problem. True marriage isn't doing too well either.

...sorry if my point appeared to be a little off to the side, which it is not. I mean no disagreement to the [excellent] poster, whatsoever, but do disagree with the homo-marriage distraction propaganda. Such propaganda actually supports homo-marriage by making way for more cohabitation/divorce policy. Singles, mostly, vote Democrat and for social anarchy.

The point is that our divorce policy of several decades made conditions ready for bringing up the homosexual marriage issue in corporate policy, then law--not the other way around, as the article directs.

Families with fathers tend to oppose movements against marriage. Divorced families do not. The opposition has known and used that for a very long time (since the 19th Century).

Kick dads out of society in one generation, and the next generation will cohabit/divorce. Then they will vote Democrat. It's already happened.

BTW, kattracks, your posts are great.
