Admittedly, I didn't read the article (as per usual) but this seems like a no brainer.  Why would Terrell Owens take time out from his busy negotiations and conditioning regimen to run for Senate?

Methinks I smell a plot by Shanny to lure T.O. to the state to replace Easy Ed McCaffery.

"I don't speak for Free Republic.

However, I support their decision on VDare. It's extremely important that people who are serious about stopping illegal immigration stick to arguments about legality and not open themselves to charges of racism."

That is impossible in this day of multiculturalism, where platitudes like 'diversity is our greatest strength' have come to substitute for real debate. In order to talk immigration and not open oneself up to charges of racism pretty much means that you must take the left-wing positions. You must support amnesty (or 'earned legalization'), you must support increased and unending mass legal immigration, you must support rewards for illegals like drivers licenses and in-state tuition rates, and you must express nothing but total enthusiasm for the effects of mass immigration on the country.

Stray from any of those and someone will call you a racist or imply your motives are racist. The ethnic interest groups (La Raza, Mecha), Nancy Pelosi, Ted Kennedy, immigration lawyers, the media, academics, AFL-CIO,......, someone will accuse you of being 'anti-immigrant', 'anti-Hispanic' and xenophobic.

It is a sad day when the mainstream, majority view of Americans (which again is reduced legal immigration, and serious attempts to stop illegal immigration) and those who dare give public expression to it are called racist and xenophobic when they are neither. It is a shame that the views of the elites who have created this unwanted and unpopular immigration policy go virtually unchallenged because of the unique way in which this issue doesn't cut neatly down party lines.

So you may have some specific example of where you think VDARE crossed the line, but my point is that simply giving expression to what are in fact mainstream views (which VDARE does) will get you called racist these days by someone. If it has gotten to the point where the GOP won't take pricipled stands for fear of being called names then defeat is inevitable, because the only way to operate w/o being called those names is to adopt both leftwing rhetoric and positions.

I could be wrong, but I think Americans would respond favorably towards a candidate who aggressively countered these bogus cries. It shouldn't be that hard; one effective way would be to simply point out that when they call him names they are in fact calling most Americans names since they share the exact same feelings.

Is there any Elway buzz at all? Or is it too early (too high a starting place) for him? What about any divorce fallout?

Eddie Mac: Stanford man; clutch performer; telegenic . . . heck John Edwards got by on less.

Wonder where Shannon Sharpe stands on the issues? :)

But illegal immigrants often work at restaurants. If you are a customer of such restauants, you are as guilty as Rep. Tancredo.

If the Dems bring on Ken Salazar I have a little suprise waiting for them.

One of my best friends today just won a huge settlement against the State of Colorado. They paid him and his lawyer off to keep their mouths shut. What about?

Colorado State University and the Colorado State Forest Service have been burying toxic waste on CSU's West Campus in Fort Collins. The proof is in the court testimony of my friends whistle blower lawsuit. Ken Salazar's office was defending the state. He campaigned on clean water and here he is paying off my friend to keep his mouth shut.

Well folks, now that it is out of court I will be getting together with my buddies and picketing the holy crap out of CSU. This is a very big can of worms and we can pull Ken Salazar right into the middle of it.

He defends the beauracracy and screws the people of Colorado. The gloves are now off.

Bad news indeed. Our recruiting hasn't been good for this election cycle. Bill Owens, Jim Gibbons, Jennifer Dunn have declined to Senate jobs. While I admire Tom Tancredo, I want someone will have a beter chance at winning. McInnis, please run.

Water policy will play a large part in the race and Scott McInnis is from the Western Slope ( not many voters). Owens is out because of personal matters. Mike Coffman has state wide appeal and Bob Beauprez is attractive no matter where he runs. Tom Tancredo relishes being a ligntening rod and would have a tough time outside of his very Republican district. Too bad Dick Wadhams is otherwise occupied.

But then I am just a Connecticut Yankee missing her old state buddies.

Yes, of course these groups call anyone who isn't for open borders a racist. I'm not worried about what they may call me. But, we should all be concerned about what mainstream people think.

I always make it clear that I am against people coming to this country illegally. I don't care who they are, what color they are, what language they speak or where they come from. All I care about is if they entered legally.

Therefore, I have no need for the white doe as my symbol. I think all citizens of this country should feel the same way no matter their original heritage.

Tancredo is a good man, but Beauprez would be the best possible choice, IMO.

I don't know that much about Beauprez and I think a lot of other people in the state might be in the same situation.

McInnis is my first choice.

Democratic Congressman Mark Udall is reconsidering an earlier decision not to run.

I wonder if he's related to the Udall family from NM. My Congressman is Tom Udall and he's a BIG RAT with an "F" from Gun Owners of America. Needless to say, I don't like him.

Owens is still my choice for President in 2008, so far.

Then the GOP still doesn't have a good candidate for President in 2008. What a mess.

How many times do you have to be told? Tancredo was in D.C. when that work was done and the workers were hired by an independent contractor. Tancredo had nothing to do with it!

I did not say he was home or knew they were illegal at the time.
He went after the high school kid. Why not the company?

Tancredo is guilty of hypocracy. I am not.

re: Klinger...Yeah, that's really alleged! Doesn't Tancredo have about four kids?

The "crazy", not the dress, but thanks for the laugh.

BTW! You always post in favor of illegal aliens, don't you?

Never. They should be deported if possible, denied government services but not blamed for the liberal policies we have adopted or used as a soap box by Grandstanders.

Darken the Door, indeed.
