Girl Scouts: "We Partner With Planned Parenthood Organizations" (GSA CEO says door open to PP)

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- Pro-life advocates thought the battle was over when the Texas Bluebonnet Council of the Girl Scouts severed ties with Planned Parenthood, ending a decade of support for the abortion business' programs for youth and clergy.

That changed when Kathy Cloninger, CEO of the Girl Scouts of America, appeared on NBC's "Today" show Friday morning to discuss the boycott.

"The Girl Scouts in Waco, Texas, really made a decision based on local community context, they decided that in this particular situation that it would be in the best interest of girls and their families to discontinue the relationship with Planned Parenthood," said Cloninger.

Cloninger explained that Girl Scouts of America addresses the challenges girls face in today's world, including issues regarding sexuality and body image.

"We partner with many organizations. We have relationships with our church communities, with YWCAs, and with Planned Parenthood organizations across the country, to bring information-based sex education programs to girls," added Cloninger.

The frank admission of the national Girl Scouting organization's CEO regarding relationships with the nation's largest abortion business and its affiliates stunned John Pisciotta of Pro-Life Waco, who had called for the Waco-area boycott by running spots on a local Christian radio station.

"I had thought that Girl Scouts was backing away from Planned Parenthood nationwide. I was totally wrong," said Pisciotta, who was also interviewed on the Today Show segment. "Kathy Cloninger made it crystal clear that the split only applies to the Bluebonnet Council of Texas. Other councils in Texas and across the nation are free to partner with their Planned Parenthood affiliates."

"I thought our challenge to the Girl Scout entanglement with Planned Parenthood was coming to a close," added Pisciotta. "The reality is that the challenge has only begun."

Here's a hint... people who have abortions don't have kids to send to GSA... people who have kids in GSA don't want them to be getting abortions... this is real simple, folks, and anyone who needs it explained to them also needs to recuse themselves (due to cluelessness) from making executive decisions on the issue.

What makes you say that? Being in the GSUSA doesn't automatically mean a girl might not end up pregnant at 14 or 15 or 16. And in that case a lot of parents are going to be mighty conflicted.

Why does the Girl Scouts need to bring this up. These are matters that should be left to the parents.

I think it is the other way around. The Girl Scouts caved and are worthless, the Boy Scouts are the ones that are now in the liberal's cross-hairs.

I had determined not to buy any GS cookies this year, and I was almost successful. Then some neighborhood girls rang our doorbell, and hubby said to buy 10 boxes. He didn't know all the controversy that I had been reading about on the internet. I went ahead and bought the cookies. A few days later I told hubby what was going on with GSA and PP. He said, "Why'd you buy the cookies?" Meanwhile, we had a virus hit our house. We won't be buying GS cookies again. I guess I should have stuck to my guns and not bought any at all. Hubby had to take care of the clean-up of the Thin Mints that 5 year old had eaten. He was so disgusted. There's a list of other stuff we won't eat anymore due to THE VIRUS.

The girl scouts ALLOW lesbian leaders and members. They don't "discriminate" between normal girls and bull dykes.

For folks who don't want to support the GSA, they should also research the National PTA. When you join your local PTA, you also pay $2.00 in dues to the National PTA, which supports a whole lot of liberal causes. Encourage your school to sever ties with the PTA and start up a parent/teacher organization that keeps dues for the service of your school. The National PTA is nothing but a lobbying organization for socialists.
