And back in 1993 she even had her PR man hold a press conference to announce her wishes. Truly a strange, strange, story...

I think we should respect her wishes.

After all she's more African than American anyway, why not give her the respect she deserves?

***Returning from his tour of duty, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee testified before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee (search) in 1971, in which he claimed it was U.S. policy in Vietnam to carry out atrocities and war crimes.

A number of Vietnam veterans consider this testimony slanderous and say Kerry had to know it was false. They accuse Kerry of lying about fellow soldiers and officers to push a political agenda, and say his words dishonored comrades in arms at a time of war. "He knew as an officer that those were lies. It never happened," said Vietnam veteran Carlton Sherwood. "He was principally responsible for cementing the image of Vietnam veterans (search) as drugged-out psychopaths who were totally unrestrained and who were a murderous hoard."

After Kerry's testimony, military and independent investigations found that many of the soldiers who told Kerry and others they committed such atrocities were either never in the service, never in Vietnam or couldn't provide more evidence of those horrific actions.*** Source

Baloney! The only place you will hear about it are on conservative threads and media outlets. Big media will not pick this up, and even if they did, the black mafia machine will not turn on their guy.

She wants to be African-American (not that I can argue with it; she's certainly got more claim to the term that I ever would [g]), and her husband wants to be the next "black president."

That's gonna go over about as well as a lead balloon...

Double-barrelled Mega-PING! to both lists! If you want on, FReepmail me!

So? A few weeks ago there was a Fox News story here on FR about a White (born in Africa) student who'd been nominated for 'African-American' student of the month and his school's dismissing the claim. Freepers on that thread seemed to think the kid was pretty cool.

Sure why not? She's more "African-American" than the Revs' Sharpton and Jackson will ever be!

The thing I find hilarious is if African-Americans knew how real Africans lived and died they probably would find a new hyphenated moniker to call themselves.

They are so proud of a heritage they obvoiusly know nothing about. If they did you would think they would care enough to try and help the situation instead of praising every despot on the continent because he is a "successful" world leader. All the while turning a blind eye to the multitudes of "brothers and sisters" suffering or being murdered because they are from a different tribe than the current "world leader" dictator.

It would be funny if it weren't so darn disgusting. The NAACP definitely sticks to the National part even if they ignore the rest of the acronym.

This campaign is using the Clinton's "politics of meaning" to turn America into a Babylonian "strange land." This would be laughable if their efforts weren't so aggressively and ably assisted by major media and a lobby of militant homosexuals who are showing themselves to be organized and funded well out of proportion to their numbers.

She's correct, but blacks use "African" for another wholly different purpose and meaning. This is a huge error. I hope mega-rich-*itch continues to mouth off.

If she was born in Mozambique and is now an American citizen, then she is indeed an "African-American."

She certainly has more claim to the monniker than Jesse Jackson, et al.

Go to it, Teresa!

The left could care less. Trust me. The black dem plantation concept is a firm one, and one that will take longer to rid of than the old form of slavery.
