Martha Stewarts wrongdoing: Bushs fault. Less tan four hours after a federal jury in Manhattan convicted Martha Stewart, Washington Post reporter Ceci Connolly, appearing on FNC, advised Democrats that, if theyre smart, they will connect the dots amongst people losing jobs, high-rollers and CEOs getting off easy as they give campaign contributions to President Bush, not to mention Cheney with Halliburton.
During a discussion about Stewart in the panel portion of the March 5 Special Report with Brit Hume, but anchored by Jim Angle, after panelist, Charles Krauthammer suggested that Bush can use the conviction to show hes tough on corporate crime, Connolly, who moved her hand around in a circle, point by point, to illustrate connecting the dots, countered: Some voters already are connecting certain dots and I think Democrats, if theyre smart, will attempt to really connect dots which go something like this: What we talked about in the first segment, people are unemployed, losing jobs; wealthy, high-rollers, CEOs etcetera getting off easy, making a lot of money; give campaign contributions to President Bush; Cheney with Halliburton. I think its possible for Democrats to exploit those sort of emotional connections that people make out there.

There was a time when reporters reported the news.
Now they try to massage it and shape it to fit their desired outcome.
They are mere stenographers for the DNC.

"I think its possible for Democrats to exploit those sort of emotional connections that people make out there." Well, duh, that's only the single weapon in their arsenal...The Republicans actually have to make people think, which is much harder.

Looks like Ceci has "dots" in front of her eyes.
According to www.opensecrets.org, in 2002 Martha Stewart contributed about $147,666, all to RATs. In 2000, she contributed about $15,000, all to RATs
What a ditz.

And Martha is in a world of hurt for attempting to prevent a loss of $55,000 that would not have happened, long term anyway. Thats about equivalent to me trying to scate for a buck on a parking meter... its not worth the $50 ticket.

Ceci really annoys me, because all she does is parrot the DNC lines, but she isn't really bright enough to have thought them through to defend them(Psst, Ceci! Martha contributed to Dimocrats, not pubbies!). The conservatives and moderates make mincemeat of her. Some respected pundit did a pretty scathing story awhile back on her lack of honesty in her columns, and one example was intended to show her utter lack of integrity. I wish I could remember who the writer was.

Far too many "reporters" sit on talking-head shows where they express opinions. They end up losing a clear line between the "sacred trust" they have as reporters and the opportunity to have an opinion about what they are reporting on.
This is the same blurry line that accountants suffered from in the 1980's and 1990's, which led to Andersen approving Enron statements, and which led to the downfall of Andersen. People who were not in the business of producing financial statements just don't realize how prevalent this was (is??) throughout the accounting profession.
There's one basic requirement in this kind of sacred trust work - you can do it or audit it; you can report on it or be part of it. YOU CAN"T DO BOTH! When you try to do both, you accomplish neither because you sell your only product - trust.
Time for the talking head commentators to read a Heinlein novel, "Stranger in a Strange Land", and remember the characters called Witnesses. These people were called upon in court cases and accepted as truth tellers because that's what they did. And truth telling is in short commodity in our society today.
