This person can't read. The federal government has DEFINED schools as "day care facilities": Any place that houses students for [the better part of the day] or 8 hours a day. They have publicly made a list of "things we can control" and "daycare facilities" was one of them.

Susan B. Anthony did her part, but public education started with the Unitarian Universalists in BAAAHSTON, MASS.
It was their contention that parents didn't have what it took to educate their children. Elitists!!!

Do some more research honey. Better yet: Get Charlotte Iserbyt's book, Deliberate Dumbing Down of America and get a real education.

"This person can't read."

Oh, now I'm crying (irony, sarcasm). It is true, though, that many working moms now use schools for day care, thanks to our increasingly stupid employment and divorce policies of more than thirty years.

We've homeschooled the children and had them in a private school, so we're aware of what the government is and isn't doing in those. I won't stop pushing for vouchers or similar system to help more private schools get started. It's the only way, with both halves of most couples working outside the home and lacking time for homeschooling. We'll just have to keep working to keep the government out of private and home education as much as possible.

It's no surprise that Unitarians pushed for public schooling from Boston. Susan B. Anthony was a Unitarian for most of her adult life. The revisionism about her being a Quaker, strict, and so forth, is feminist propaganda. Her family's Quaker sect ("inner light") was very loose with regards to scripture. Most of the 19th Century feminists (both male and female) I've researched called for public schooling.

Thanks for the reference to the book, too. If it's not all clucking rhetoric, it might be a good supplement to readings that started with the Goals 2000 papers in the '90s.
