LET THE PEOPLE VOTE!

On February 8th on a blustery, cold afternoon on historic Boston Common, the above cry rang out over and over again from the thousands of people in attendance at the Rally sponsored by Your Catholic Voice in collaboration with Massachusetts Catholic Conference and the Coalition for Marriage.

Since that epic event which saw Archbishop Sean P. O'Malley, Honorable Joseph R. Nolan, Honorable Robert Quinn, Ambassador Raymond L. Flynn and a host of other luminaries speak to the enthusiastic gathering, the Legislature convened in a Constitutional Convention to vote on an amendment that would let the people decide whether marriage should be defined as the union of one man and one woman.

When we decided to promote this rally, we had the following goals, first to prove that Catholics as well as other people of faith were genuinely concerned with the question of same sex marriage; second, that with enough pressure from the electorate, the Senate President would call the Convention and third that when the vote was taken there would be enough votes to put the issue on the ballot where it belongs.

Obviously, we achieved the first two!

The third and final issue will be debated again on March 11th at the State House and, as before, we need your help. Your State Representative and State Senator is under great pressure from the Boston media and powerful well organizes special interest groups.

Call or write your Senator and Representative at the State House and tell him or her that this an issue that the people should decide not simply four unelected justices of the Supreme Judicial Court.

Regardless of how they feel or how they would vote on the issue, tell them this is an issue that should be decided by the people.

Tell your elected officials that they should simply, Let the People Vote. Send this to friends and family and ask them to do it as well. Click here to find your legislators
