I know of several people who were free traders but now with the loss of jobs mounting thye have changed their minds. I am one of them.

I bought the free trade uber alles line all through the eighties. Twenty years later I realize that, contrary to what the fanatics say, there really are two valid sides to the argument.

The only right policy is to strike a thoughful & far sighted balance that nets the most benefit to the US as a whole, taking infrastructural, defense, etc. requirements into consideration, not only those of the 'bottom line'.
