March 8, 2004 -- Martha Stewart's ex-husband, Andy Stewart, feared the princess of perfection's long-held habit of telling whoppers would one day trigger her downfall, a former business partner told The Post yesterday. Norma Collier, who was Martha Stewart's first business partner when they started a catering business in Connecticut in 1974, said yesterday that Stewart's self-made disaster was "very sad" - and almost inevitable.

Yet another dodge.

You would prefer something more direct?

I was hoping to avoid this, trying to be polite, but you just would not accept my kindness, would you.

So, you want something direct, then something direct you shall receive.

So be it.

Please stop with the personal attacks and lies and accusations about me, and please stop baiting me.

TUVM.

I just read the article to which you linked, and I did not see specific instances of insider trading by lawmakers. I do not doubt that they do it. However, I'd like to see names and follow the $$$$$. That would make the story more credible.

It is certainly sad to see folks lose out because Martha Stewart cared more about $100,000 than she cared about the little people. Who bears the greater responsibility? Government bureaucrats or greedy corporate executives?

From your posted article: "A good argument will be that this was aberrant conduct," Fisher said. "She has led a spectacular life ... in the course of a lifetime, she has given much to society."

Whereupon the state can introduce all evidence it has to the contrary (at an appeals hearing that is in the public record). I'm not so sure Martha's lawyers want to open that door. Among other things, she is reputed to have been a tax evader who was finally brought to heel by NY state. A lot of effort is being put into making her out to be a saint and the media are cooperating in that project. Why would the defense hand that microphone to their adversaries?
