Yikes. Hadn't seen that picture. Pretty disgusting stuff. Still I'm don't think it is accurate to characterize an entire organization, which appears to be a very loose coalition, on the basis of a few whackos who show up at one of their rallies. Geez, they wouldn't even show their faces. The Left and Right both have their share of loony extremists whose words and actions should be repudiated by everyone.
Issue-based coalitions can often include people and oranizations who agree on little else besides the issue itself. Does George Bush think that abortion clinic doctors should be murdered? I seriously doubt it, but that doesn't stop him from accepting support from groups that include members who do.
We know that Jameel Rashid lent his support to a specific "call to action" that criticized US foriegn policy and called for the US to leave Iraq, so we can assume that he agrees with ANSWER on those points. We really know nothing else about him - not that he is a security risk, not that he is unfit to serve in the Coast Guard - nothing.

Would you want Jameel covering your back? He believes we are a colonial power. He wants our troops removed from everywhere around the world. You think he is fit to serve?

When is the last time you saw someone on the political right do property damage or deliberately injure someone? When do we call for the death of anyone other than our enemies? (McVeigh doesn't count. He wasn't on our side. He was a criminal mass murderer.)

The Warrant Officer who returned my call didn't think he was fit to serve.
