He is a man in uniform. He is supporting a march that is critical of our government and advocating bringing the troops home. Active duty military are not supposed to be involved in political action.

Active duty military are not supposed to be involved in political action. Actually, I believe members of the the Coast Guard are technically not classified as "active duty military," unless specifically designated as such.
Normally, they're part of the Department of Transportation.
