About time sanity came back to Greeks.
I just hope they get them selves together before the olympics.

Good news. The right is gaining popularity in Europe after a decade of economic stagnation. Schroeder is going down the tubes in Germany and Chirac is losing support in France. There is a definite move to the right.

Boy, when I first heard Greece was getting the Olympics, I thought, they'll never pull it off.
I still have doubts.
I also think they're a prime target for terrorists.

I agree. I was born there and my parents retired there. The PASOC left wing governments have been pro-palestinian, and anti-Israel and anti-US. I refuse to take my kids there for the Olympics. Arab terrorist action is all but inevitable.
What bugs me is that the Olympics are the holly grail of Greek turism and culture lore. After many attempts to get them on Greek soil and the PASOC lefties have screwed them up. I just hope to God the new Government sorts it out before the games become a disaster.

Within the the past year "60 Minutes" did an expose of how the socialist Greek government has been shielding leftist terrorists, their fellow travelers, for the past 3 decades.

Caramanlis has promised smaller government, less bureaucracy and tax cuts to fuel growth and cut an unemployment rate of about 9 percent. Sounds great huh??
Caramanlis has also pledged more funds for social welfare, education and health
These guys are as confused as our RINO's

Chirac represents the right in France which just shows how screwed up that country is.

Greek conservatives swept to a landslide victory Sunday in parliamentary elections that ended 10 years of Socialist government and assigned a new caretaker to the troubled preparations for this summer's Olympics. With 56 percent of votes counted, the New Democracy party was beating the Socialists 47 percent to 41 percent as part of a deep reshuffling of Greece's political order. Socialist leader George Papandreou conceded defeat after various exit polls showed New Democracy with a strong lead. I consider this very good news.

Sounds better than Haider in Austria. Yes, it is an excellent counter weight to that kind of news. Remember Pat Buchanan used to win alot of votes too, until he published his book and self-destructed politically with many ill-conceived moves.
