Metrorail benefits a very few. The manufacturers and contractors. The real estate developers. The bureaucrats who run the system.

I could be generous and say it benefits the 1% of commuters who will ride it, although it's hard to do that with a straight face. It's slower and more costly to ride than other available form of transportation in the city, and that's even WITH the taxpayer subsidies.

But for the other 99% of us, it's going to make things worse. Our roads will be worse. Our taxes will soar. And our streets will be more dangerous.

Hell of a deal.
