I hope that kid finds peace. He certainly didn't let his father. As a Red Sox fan since birth I was outraged by this kid and his exploitation of his father even while he was still alive. But- in a spirit of forgiveness I will say a prayer for the little jerk.

Yeah...me too!
I was sitting in an outdoor USAF movie theater on Okinawa in 1953 when the "The Ted Williams Story" was filming and they had a shot of the right field stands...and THERE I WAS!
Sox-Yanks are on NESN today and the Yanks are up 9-5.
My choice for the best acquisition of the year?
Ellis Burks.....I think he's going to do good.

John Henry Williams and Pete Rose Jr. both were given numerous chances to play pro ball based solely on their lineage.

I have a similiar story. I was at the BC/Notre Dame game in which they filmed "Rudy". As Rudy was being carried off the field My seat is missed by about two rows in the film! I was almost immortalized in one of the best sports movies ever made! By- the way- Notre Dame whaled on us that day. It was like 53 to 7 score!

From the article:
It is unclear if John Henry Williams also will be frozen.
According the the statement he had his father sign on his deathbed, John Henry and Claudia were supposed to be frozen as well, so they could all be together in the afterlife. I will be very surprised if John Henry did arrange to have his head frozen. Hopefully, his half-sister will be able now to give her father a decent burial/cremation.

They should put this guy's head in a jar of formaldehyde and display it prominently in the sleaziest bar in town.

I never knew that John henry was ill like this. If he has been taking a lot of pain-killer dope in recent years that might explain a thing or two.

By the way- they were just saying on NESN how people were sleeping outside the spring training ticket office to get tickets to his spring training game! Amazing!

I'ts a shame what they put one of america's finest through after his death. A number of us got to meet him several years ago at the opening of a huge tackle store in the Keys. He got out of a white lime and the charisma was still there after all those years, he was in his 80's at the time. A true amereican hero, although he did have a temper.

Get ready NYCVirago! This is going to be a great season!I didn't think the Yankees-Red Sox rivalry could get hotter after last year, but it's gone thermonuclear after the A-Rod trade. I can't wait!

This is the year!

I'm thinking since the first regular season Yankees-Red Sox game this season will be on national TV, that we should have a live thread here. What do you think?
To: NYCVirago
Good idea.

Got back from Florida this Friday. Saw some Sox Spring training games. Look out for a pick up leftie from the Mets farms- Lenny Dinardo. Kid looked good. A fair share of Yankee fans at Fort Myers as well. Well behaved and cheered for the Sox but good natured smack talk between pitches.
Looking forward to this season.
