I fully agree with you. Israel and the US face the same destructive enemies. But Israel is in greater danger because it is surrounded by those hostile forces, and we are not. It really is a cultural dispute, and Israel is an outpost of "the West" imbedded in "the East". They want to transform us into a theocracy. Either they will succeed, or they themselves will be transformed into something much more like us. The world may have grown too small and too interconnected for two such different systems to just exist in separate spheres. Israel is a daily, living reproach to Islamism. If peaceful coexistence really is impossible, I know who I want to win. We have technology and greater rationality on our side, they have demographics.
