Crawford, Texas - President Bush and Mexican President Vicente Fox joined forces Saturday to promote Bush's plan for easing immigration laws, as Bush acknowledged that the proposal faces a tough time in Congress.
Standing side-by-side in bright sunshine at Bush's Texas ranch, the two leaders said Bush's plan for a new temporary worker program would help both countries by eliminating the underground market for Mexican workers. The proposal would let an estimated 8 million workers who are in the United States illegally gain legal status as guest workers.
"The people who come to this country make a significant contribution to the American economy," Fox told reporters.
Bush's plan, announced in January, has raised expectations in Mexico and among illegal workers in this country, but it has little chance of passing Congress this year. Republican critics say the proposal would reward illegal immigrants; Democrats complain that it does not do enough to help foreign workers become U.S. citizens.

So an illegal who has committed felony document fraud --- presented someone else's social security number and other identification should be allowed to stay? Immigrants that found their way onto SSDI, food stamps, and other welfare programs should stay as long as they come from Mexico?
You don't know of the hundreds of thousands (perhaps millions) of citizens who do that? What do you purpose, sending them back to Europe?

This thread is on the wrong website. It belongs on black political activist websites, talking to a bloc of voters with more to lose to Mexican illegals. Get the blacks to vote Tancredo!! That's the real bang for the bandwidth!!

How do you find 8-12 million unknown illegal aliens living with legal families? All I know is there are 10-15 million illegal aliens in the USA. Many are minors who their parents have scammed across US borders. At the most 3 million illegal alien adults are needed to do "the jobs Americans just won't do". Give the rest the boot.
The ruling class here wants a serf class then give it to 'em. I would never legalize these clowns. Let them live in the shadows as serfs. Let them wait on the corners for day jobs. Let them continue to do the work "Americans just don't want to do"

"How do you find 8-12 million unknown illegal aliens living with legal families?" No one is naive enough to think we'll get them all. Round up the ones we do find, the ones pulled over for traffic violations and such. Refuse education to their children. Clamp down on their employers. Make their lives hell.
If it breaks up families, too bad. If a thief is busted, do we not throw them in jail because it might "break up a family"?

I work in a union shop with many Democrats. They complain about our medical benefits being reduced. Of coarse they blame the "rich" CEO's. Sure, there maybe some blame there but when millions are receiving free medical without putting into the pot, the cost will be payed by those who are contributing.
These Democrats just don't want to get pass the 15 second sound bite. Some have agreed with me after I show them articles like the one FAIR put out.
But you know how the old saying goes, "if you want to hide something from a Democrat, put it in a book".

but it's OK to lie if you're an illegal alien...>>>>>>>>
Hey, lot's of things are just fine if you *illegal*.......
AZ border patrol tried to pull over a STOLEN TRUCK, that had STOLEN PLATES, this led to RECKLESS DRIVING & a HIGH SPEED CHASE, that ended when the 5 illegals CRASHED thru an ARMY POST FENCE & FLED.....I'm also assuming they had no DL's or insurance, seatbelt's ??
BP did however catch them & all five were deported the next day. No charges filed on any of these crimes.......but if this had been a citizen !!!

I agree. I feel betrayed.
People don't understand how militant the people from south of the border are. They are organizing and they are taking plenty of hints from good old shake-down artist Jesse Jackson.
The Hispanic leadership will betray the good people just as Jesse has.

I take it you think immigration from Haiti should be limited --- even if they might be willing to work for far less than the Mexicans? The argument about having families here doesn't cut it --- why should that give preference?Mexicans and other Hispanics are selfish piggies cutting in front of the immigration line. There are plenty of other 3rd worlders who are more deserving to come here. Who have educations and English language skills.
Family reunification with Mexican is legally bringing 200,000/year here. No other nation gets such a good deal in addition to their illegal immigrants being tolerated by Jorge Bush and most Democrats.

How can that be? I though you said they are never deported? I thought that the cops would have gave them hug, 50 dollars, and a pat on the butt before taking them to their jobs in upper management?

That's cute, "selfish piggies" do you want to be schooled on what Hispanics and the Spanish have contributed to this country? Or do you just want to throw crap around like a little baboon? I'll school you- don't worry.

Not quite my friend. Deport deport deport and then deport some more. Give 'em the bum's rush. This is a sovereign nation named America, not Mexico. This is not Mexico and thank GD for that! I'll bet you feel the same.

I'll school you- don't worry. Hispanics have contributed little to this nation. There were very few Hispanics living in the continental USA prior to 1950. Most USA "Hispanics" lived in Puerto Rico. Hispanics came after the gold rush. After this nation was built up. If I were in charge of immigration I would favor other 3rd world nations and put a freeze on Hispanic immigration for 10 years out of fairness.
