Crawford, Texas - President Bush and Mexican President Vicente Fox joined forces Saturday to promote Bush's plan for easing immigration laws, as Bush acknowledged that the proposal faces a tough time in Congress.
Standing side-by-side in bright sunshine at Bush's Texas ranch, the two leaders said Bush's plan for a new temporary worker program would help both countries by eliminating the underground market for Mexican workers. The proposal would let an estimated 8 million workers who are in the United States illegally gain legal status as guest workers.
"The people who come to this country make a significant contribution to the American economy," Fox told reporters.
Bush's plan, announced in January, has raised expectations in Mexico and among illegal workers in this country, but it has little chance of passing Congress this year. Republican critics say the proposal would reward illegal immigrants; Democrats complain that it does not do enough to help foreign workers become U.S. citizens.

"Jorge I'm waiting to hear what all the other "straws" are..."
Go back and re-read the thread. Heck, go back and re-read the forum. Pay attention. There is no sense me repeating the laundry list of leftist-style pandering engaged in by our President.
I asked you a simple question and you obviously can't answer it.
You prefer to hand out a "laundry list" of reading assignments...as if I'm supposed to research and do your homework to support your argument.
Pretty weak response.
Suggestion. Next time be prepared to support and defend your own positions.
Regarding a "bomb" I was using an analogy to help you understand that illegal immigration is just a "single puny issue." Illegal Immigration is to Issues as Nuclear Warhead is to Bombs.
Right. Let me "help you understand" that your argument is as bomb is to nuclear as firecracker is to warhead. LOL.
You didn't do well on the SATs, did you?
Actually I graduated first in my college class with a perfect 4.0 GPA.
But I'm sure you are the only undisputed genius on these boards. LOL.

So I guess we're back to "square one," but let's give it a rest, OK? Sure. Peace on ya. But I have enjoyed our exchange.

My advice is to just scroll past the open-borders trolls. They only want to provoke flame wars, to get these bothersome threads deleted so they won't be seen. Don't play their game.

Souces?!? We've been down this road before. You've been given directions before. Apparently you haven't bothered to do the research and I'm not responsible for your lack of preparation before entering a discussion.
Take the time to look up the information and then rejoin the discussion. It's all available, principally on government web sites or on our own search function. The research should take you less than two weeks.

and not an Internt poll that has been FReeped)>>>>>>>>
Don't need polls, just check the 'guest worker threads'........about like tonite only 3 or 4 support it (and one of them was 'wacked')
Why ANY of our politicians are 'pandering' for 5% *maybe* 10% of the voters that favor legalizing, is a mystery to me.

I am certain you are making stuff up Nope. It doesn't pay.
There are simply too many well informed people on this forum.
A fabrication would be outed in a heartbeat.
Everyone of the four basic stats I've cited has been taken from a thread that discussed the sourced, government publication(s:
1)school enrollment as a function of income
2) comparative birth rates of recent immigrants
3) infrastructure costs of recent immigrants
4) the long term consequences of an unskilled workforce in California

Standing side-by-side in bright sunshine at Bush's Texas ranchthe happy couple announced plans to move to Frisco and get hitched.
Thank you, El Presidente Jorge W. BushaMECHA. Thank you for giving the green light to illegals.

You don't seem to understand that working out a guest worker program to identify people already HERE is a good thing...but you would rather live in the dark. And Bush is going to make sure that EACH and EVERYONE of them go back after their guest worker visa expires, right?

Personally, I think El Moocho Grande must have video of Dubya with an under-age goat.

Because if you do you know more than the governmetn does currently. At least Bush will find out who is here, but I know, your type would never admit that.

FINALLY. An immigration thread to post on!
Now then. I have a question. It's a legitimate question mostly directed at those who are either single issue immigration voters or immigration focused. It is:
Why here?
Why are you posting your displeasure here? Why not post to the place where the people there have the VERY MOST to lose. Namely, black websites.
Why not evoke displeasure in blacks with the Democratic leadership, who espouse a more liberal approach to immigration control. If you want to say, NO, they aren't worse. They are the same. You're still in the wrong place.
The right place to be focused on this is with blacks. Evidence of black discontent would be a much much bigger story. That is the right place to foment insurrection. Think about it. They have lost their previous place as the predominant minority in the US and they can rightly say they were here and had more to do with the building of America than newly arrived illegals whose offspring are citizens. It is BLACKS who can begin the drumbeat to undo anchor baby laws. It is BLACKS . . . African Americans (you should probably use the PC term when you post there) who lose their political clout due to the new Hispanic focus. It is BLACKS who should be voting Tancredo.
You guys are posting to the wrong place. Find the black political websites and do your thing there. More bang for the bandwidth.

"The people who come to this country make a significant contribution to the American economy," Fox told reporters. What a clown --- Mexico's economy is tanking --- if he believed what he says, then he would want them in Mexico.

The people who come here legally bring a new dimension to American life. Not if they require food stamps, Medicaid and any other kind of welfare check --- which over 40% do. Legal immigrants from Mexico actually have an even higher rate of welfare program use than the illegals from there.

Bush really does appear to be trying to throw this election! Right before an election isn't the best time for Bush to be handing out more of the "whole enchildada" (our country) to this conniving Vicente Fox.

Is this how reliable is this news service? At this point, if I ever read an article that says Bush stood up to the Mexican government, or told Fox to go home and start fixing up his country so we don't have to have this massive immigration mess, I would question the reliability of the news service.

These guys are just making up numbers and hoping to not get caught. If they just happen upon your SS# and they earn money without paying taxes under your SS# the IRS can bill you for the taxes. They can destroy your credit, they can make it impossible for you to get a job --- when your prospective jobs runs the number and see it's already in use, and now they're being told they can get that Social Security money you paid in.

"I ain't voting for Bush, he likes Mexicans, my God!! Why is Bush deporting all those Haitians? If we need so many uneducated low-skilled workers --- what's the deal? There are hundreds of thousands of Haitians willing to come and take all these jobs being created --- why just Mexicans? Is that racist or not?
