A peace walk and rally to observe the one-year anniversary of the beginning of Operation Iraqi Freedom will take place March 20 in Ventura.
The event, according to organizers, will be one of many gatherings for peace around the world.
Participants will meet at 12:30 p.m. at the Plaza Park gazebo in downtown Ventura (Chestnut Street between Santa Clara Street and Thompson Boulevard) for the peace walk at 1 p.m. down Main Street to Mission Park (Main and Figueroa streets).
The rally at Mission Park will feature speakers, information tables and a sign contest with prizes for best "in your face," most original and most humorous.
Live music will be provided by The Durfees (folk), Gill Sotu (rhythm poetry and neo-soul), Nature Girl (contemporary acoustic) and Project D or Raincheck (upbeat dance or punk).
Anyone is invited to share poetry, music and comedy between band performances. Participants also can write messages or do artwork on two paper scrolls that will be sent to the White House and Iraq.
Participants are asked to pack picnics and U.S. flags.

Sounds like a deal....anyone watching the changing of the guard at the Santa Barbara News Press.....the new employees must kiss Wendy's ring.....otherwise....BOOT...out the door! Has anyone been watching the bigoted remarks by Supervisor Gail Marshall.....she's not likely to be buying any baskets at the local Chumash Casino....

Actually, we don't get any info on Santa Barbara via our local Ventura County Star. It would be great if you could post some of those articles over at the chapter forum (www.freepernet.com) so that we could stay informed. Freepmail me a password that you would like to use (can't be your freerepublic.com password). I especially want to hear about Firestone.
