Oh wise one...where do you draw the line then? Gay marriage? Polygamy? Beastiality? Child Pornography? Do you actually think your children should be exposed to Howard Stern? That if somehow they happen to come across him on the radio that it is their "lack of responsibility"? I find it very funny that the definition of "conservative" seems to have changed in the last thirty years.

I do believe in limited government. Governments are installed among men in order to secure Liberty. They are instituted specifically for the reason of enforcing the law, defending against enemies (foreign and domestic) and perpeuating a society where people can live their lives in Freedom. There can be no Liberty without a secure society. Or do you consider an Israeli society where one cannot even go the local coffee shop with the very real threat of being incinerated "free"?

When a terrorist intrudes into our peaceful society, it is the duty and function of the government to kill that terrorist and the little nest he came from by any means possible. Laws cannot exist if you live in a society where they are unenforcable. And that is exactly what the terrorist is trying to do - destroy the rule of law. Make our laws unenforcable. Create chaos, anarchy. Destroy our society. If there are a few instances of accidental and unintentional violations as the result, so be it. It is all in the cause of a greater Liberty.

The same applies to the criminals who foul our airwaves. These people have no respect for America. They slander, lie, spread filth. They have the same motives of the terrorists. They also try to take down our president, chosen by God. That kind of action supports terrorism. An attack on presidnet Bush is an attack on America. Howard Stern, sitting on his fat ass and spending 3 hours every day trying to verbally assassinate Bush is putting this country in danger. Putting our way of life in danger. Putting our children in danger.

Government must take the threats to America seriously and take action if it is warranted. Not being able to use power in the defense of Freedom is the sign of a weak man. Criminal organizations like moveon.org must be fined and shut down. Pornographers and slanderers like Stern must be shut up or arrested. Actors who distribute drug paraphenelia must be imprisoned. Doctors who murder babies must be held accountable. Homos who try and redefine marriage for all of us must be stopped. The government has a responsibility to stop those who would destroy America. Period.

Children should not be exposed to Howard Stern. It is the parents responsibility to protect their children not the nanny state's as you propose.
Rational people don't equate the inalienable right of freedom of speech with sodomizing children or animals.

You may be emboldened now that your perceived enemy, Howard Stern, is being censored. Make no mistake, when the Democrats gain control, Rush, Michael Savage, and message boards such as Freerepublic will be censored for, as you put it "slander, lies, spreading filth" One man's lies is another's belief system and religion. This is dangerous territory which will come back to haunt those who don't stand up to tyranny. Here's a quote which you undoubtedly find troubling:

My husband and I just had this argument. I agree with you. He told me there was no way to control the Internet because it is worldwide and I said that because we can not control it, it is then allowed? By being allowed to come into our homes then it is accepted and when anything goes our children will never learn what is accepted or not. What it comes down to is that we will have to get rid of all forms of communication in order to keep the filth out of the house. I am like you, there has to be a way to keep this trash out of our homes. I know, I know there are those who say turn the channel, however, you can not always be with your children. They will be exposed. I for one did not have to grow up with all the filth on the airwaves and I was able to have a normal childhood. As a high school teacher, I can tell you that our society is changing with all the trash these kids are exposed to and it is scary looking at their future.
