N.H. shop giving free gowns to military brides

Friday,March5,2004,2:14 PM

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. (AP) -- A Portsmouth, N.H., bridal shop is going above and beyond the call of duty to help brides whose wedding dates have been moved up because of military duty.

Janice Wood, the owner of Madeleine's Daughter Bridal Shop, is giving away wedding dresses to prospective brides scheduled to be shipped overseas. Gowns will also be offered to women whose fiancés headed overseas with the military.

Wood is offering the gowns Tuesday from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. as a way of saying thanks to members of the military.

She says many people have had to reschedule their weddings for months earlier than planned.
