God, when will it stop hurting?

I hope, never.

Sooner or later we won't recognize it as hurting, though nothing about it will have changed. It is a part of most of us all now, both collectively and individually. Collectively we will put aside the hurt and move forward with what needs to be done. And collectively we are, on the shoulders of those serving our nation.

Individually though, I don't think there is a right answer as to when. I know what works for me, but that doesn't make it right for everyone. I chose to feel the hurting, though many have undoubtedly hurt more than I. I don't want it to go away, I want it to stay there, as a reminder. It can hurt yet not overpower me. It can hurt and not get in my way. But it will always remind me.
