I expect that there will be an exodus of like-minded people from Europe coming our way soon. If they are like this lady, I am not sure we want them. They will bring their socialism and condescention with them even as they beg for shelter.

Some of us have no desire to leave the United States permanently for another country and no desire to have those return who would leave us, dripping with condescension and nostalgia for Vietnam antiwar demonstrations, when its convenient and return when things get a bit rough in their adopted locales. You made your choice. Stay overseas, Madam.

This, it seems, is their new Maginot line: the sneer of hatred.

And we all know just how effective the Maginot line was.

I was born and raised in Europe, lived there for 16 years as European Director for my company. I have nothing but disdain for the inept Europeans who will again experience civil war and revolution in their future. Just because the aristocracy is back and wants to rule it's citizens from the top down.
Yes, I was once an Expatriot also.
However, if we examine this closer, we need to understand the meaning of "EX", since we all know the word Patriot.
If EX means I left the country temporarily to assume my job related duties, that's would describe me. If, on the other hand "EX" is interpreted as disassociating one-self with the Homeland, it may describe this lady's situation. Madam, if your heart belongs to another country, please make a clean break from it, you can't have it both ways?

I thought that was a breathtakingly written, excellent article. Thank you for posting it. I, for one, will welcome this woman with open arms when she decides to come home. Sounds like she has a healthy appreciation of what's GOOD in Europe, while fearing and shunning the evil. We could use a lot more people like her here in the USA.

Some people are born Americans, and it does not matter where on the planet they were when they came into the world. Others, like this git, were born in America, but will never be Americans. Its about values and beliefs, not about ethnicity or geography.

I agree. She should stay or go somewhere else. She left with her nose in the air and her mind welded shut, feeling somehow threatened by the American fight against communism in early 70's. This is not the type of citizen this great republic needs.

Why don’t people just pick up and go while they still can?

Europe is showing me why my grandparents left

Chilling summation

I disagree. People make mistakes and it takes a long time for them to realize it sometimes. She is at the cusp of embracing America once again. Like a black sheep of the family showing up at funerals, but not feeling comfortable enough to call or visit the family that they left.

She deserves the treatment that she gave, and a country like France would give it to her. But America is a Christian country and can forgive those who wish to rejoin. But, I do hope some of her experiences stay with her, so when she gets back she realizes that the rural and suburban Americans that she thinks poorly of have much better visions of the world than the superior minded zombies that are the French.

As I read this piece, I was pleased to see that she had regained some appreciation for the good old USA and that she understood the hardships of her family's migration from Europe decades earlier. I almost liked her. Until I read this zinger:

"Give me empire, my dear Yanks. Come over here and colonize this place so that I can put my suitcases back on top of the closet, keep my swishes and furbelows, my fanfreluches and baubles, my adopted family jewels and Continental airs, and live to a ripe old age here in the center of Paris, in the middle of nowhere."

Uppity dame can darn well stay in Paris, cowering stylishly in her flat. She has nothing to contribute here.

Breathtaking and well written, yes. But she still doesn't get it. She still loves her chains. I am not at all sure we want her or her type. She wants someone else to fix it for her, not to take the responsibility for herself. Free people know that they bear that burden and that glory.

No forgiveness without repentance. She still loves her sin, she only wants to escape the consequences.

Too true. I went to college in France (too many years ago) and saw nothing of this attitude out in the provinces where I lived (Anjou). Things have changed. Yes, the French had pretentions when I was there, but they didn't hate us so much that they would be willingly deceived. Things are going to get much worse there, before they get better.

Not to split hairs, but the correct word is "expatriate", not "expatriot." Websters defines it as:
1 : to withdraw (oneself) from residence in or allegiance to one's native country.

I've seen expats from many countries and most were just there for the job. I met very few who hated their own country and were working in other places to get away from it. Of course our people in France are probably different. It's my personal opinion that one of the answers to the question " why do they hate us" can be directly tied to their people experiences in dealing with our miserable American hating expats they meet in their own country.

America cannot become a country that requires people to believe one way or the other to be a "good citizen". If that happens we become France.

I agree with you. This "person" left America when things were not to her liking. Her loyalty is at best superficial and no asset to anyone here. She can be bought. Let her stay in France. Given their ability to change morality with the shift of the wind, it will not be long before they change to something she can accomadate. Loyalty is something that doesn't change. I say "Tough. Who needs another winter soldier."

What will this poor lady do when, not if, sharia law is implemented?
I do have a solution to their population problem though. Import Hindus to counterbalance the Muslims. They procreate very fast as well. :)
